Oppinions wanted: Throttle body, injectors, MAF...

I am installing an Eaton supercharger on my 01 Roush and am debating on what parts I should go with for the install. I was looking along the lines of ordering a 75mm BBK throttle body, Ford Racing 30lb injectors, oversized heat exhanger and possibly a Lightning MAF. What are your guys thoughts on this? I'll be making bout 10 to 12lbs of boost with the Chicane kit and am working towards 400RWHP. For sure I will replace the TB, injectors and Heat exchanger but what kind do you guys recommend and is it worth changing the MAF? Any input is greatly appreciated. -Trent

I heard that the air passages in cheaper throttle bodies like: FRPP, BBK and MAC have a reduction in size as you go further into the opening. So I'd stay away from those.

And what about forged internals and tune? I don't see'em on your list, or is this a common sense thing.

You got it. As soon as the car is back together I will be towing it up to Phoenix to get a chip burned for it. I also forgot to add that I will be changing out the fuel pump as well... -Trent

What supercharger kit are you going with? AED, saleen, or roush?

Not true....my BBK is strait as an arrow all the way through and of great quality. It may not be whittled from a single chunk of billet like an Accufab is, but it performs every bit as well

01STG2ROUSH, Go with a 75mm T/B, 36-42lb injectors and an 80mm-90mm Lightning MAF. If you go with the 80mm, it will work with your existing intake tube, if you go with the 90mm, you’re going to need to fab up a custom tube in order for it to fit. Neither one will peg at your projected power level, but much beyond that I would look into something with a little more range to it. Keep in mind, that if you do go with the Lightning meter, you're going to have to use an SCT tuner or similar to program the correct transfer function to your ECM in order to make it work. I recommend the AED (Allen Engine Development) kit not only because I have one , but between all of the Eaton based major manufactures for the 2V engine (Saleen, Roush, FRPP and AED) the AED provide the best bang for the dollar. Cheaper than either the Roush or the Saleen and will make ever bit as much if not more power and intercooled where the FRPP is not.

If you are getting the kit used, and it isn't coming with the 30lb injectors, go with 36's. I have the same kit, with a ported lower intake, making 10lbs, and I am not maxing out the 30's but the MAF is getting close. The 75mm tb is a good upgrade for these blowers also. I am also runing the stock pump, with a BAP, with no fuel issues. Also if you are getting the KIT used, make sure you have all of the parts. Little things left out like throttle cables EGR tube, intake bolts etc, can make for a aggrevating install.

Not to mention that if you are missing a few things here and there, Saleen wants an arm and a leg for replacment parts, if in fact they are willing to help at all.

Been there done that. Actually every part you mentioned is one I was missing for the most part. Saleen was nothing but incredibly helpful to me in making sure I had the right parts. They even let me pick up the parts from there headquarters while I was in Cali. I can't say enough good things bout those guys.

As of right now I'm thinking I'll probably go with the 75mm Accufab body and some Ford Racing 42lb injectors. I'm going to call Chicane tommorow and get some info but I appreciate all the help, it makes the decision process alot simpler. Thanks for the input guys, anymore thoughts? -Trent

Double check the mounting point for your T/B inlet. If memory serves, it's only around 68-70mm and not quite large enough to work with a 75mm T/B. This is easily remedied with a once over with the die grinder to match it up. Also, if you've got any porting experience, it wouldn't hurt to open up the runners on the intake manifold some, or at least polish up the casting flash. This and their inlet elbow are the most major drawbacks of the Saleen kits in comparison to other Positive Displacement Blowers and they benefit greatly from a little port and polish in that area.
