Do you have a high powered stereo? Do you store your car for the season with the alarm enabled? Do you have an electric fan or some other device that draws a lot of power? Do you have a 3g alt?

A red top is a stock replacement, if oyu have something that draws a lot of power like a big stereo and store oyur car for long periods of time then the Yellow top is for you. I find my voltmeter jumping a lot with my electric fan, and sometimes below 12v, so I got the Yellow top since it has the ability to charge very quickly

I'm not saying it's better, it depends on the application check out optima's website, which I think is www.optimabatteries.com they tell youu which one is better for you. I heard the yellow top doesn't last as long, but who knows, I think I have a 3 year warrantee on it, i got mine from a dealer on Ebay much cheaper than from buying it in the store

The yellow is a deep cycle battery if I remember right. I bought the red top for my daily driver and its given me no problems and I've had it over a year.

Yeah I was going to ask the same question too. I think I am going to get the Red Top sooner or later. I am going to get a box to put it in the hatch too.

Buy the new Group51 optima. It is about half the width of the stock redtop. Plenty of power at 650CCA at 0* for the 5L.

It is a more compact unit and just a bit less weight.
