So I upgraded my stock alternator to a 130amp, when the fan kicks in the lights still dim and the gauges as well.

I'm looking into buying an optima yellow top. What group of battery would fit without the posts hitting the hood?

check your grounds. your lights and gauges should not dim with a 130amp alt. You should also add another 4 gauge ground wire from the block to the chassis.
