I don't know the exact time I have had this battery, but it has not been too long. If the car sits for more than one day it will not start without a charge. It has been doing this for 5+ months. Then the other day it would not start right after driving. Got jumped off and drove around for over an hour. Yesterday it started, but it was very weak. Today it did the same thing. I feel if it did not start on the first try, it would not.

Anyways, it has stickers on it that says b-5. From what I read on the internet this means it is from February of 2005.

Go to optima's website and read
"75/25

36 months free replacement + 36 months pro-rated1,2,5"

So I take it to where I bought it. They say it has no warranty, but it can be a core. I did not pay optima $ for less than 4 years of use. Doesn't the +36 months pro-rated mean I can get money back on it?

I got it at advance auto parts. Can I take it to autozone and they honor my warranty?

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

Advance Warranty is 84 month prorated warranty, has been for a long time. The guy is full of ****. Do you have a receipt, or proof of purchase? Autozone will probably not honor your warranty.

can't find my receipt (advance auto receipts can't be read after a few years anyways) . I have not even owned this car for 84 months, so its got to be something still.

I am not positive, but I don't think it is. If I don't park it more than one day it does fine. Except for the other day.

I usually scan all my Advance Receipts. Damn thermal paper. I've had them actually tell me they can't take a copy. So, you have a receipt that fades, and you don't take a copy.... some warranty. They should have computer records by the way. If you really want to get serious about it, call the District Manager for your local Advance. Those guys will give you whatever you want.

Hey, you know what. I have a copy of an Advance receipt for an Optima on my computer. I have one that is less than 3 years so you can get it for free. If you PM me your email address, I'll attach the copy and you can just print it out. Just make sure you go to a different Advance, and rip the little date sticker off the battery, so the date won't conflict with the receipt.

I've always had problems with red top optimas

Do you have some kind of a drain on your battery?
Mine kept going dead - ended up being the ****ty alarm some previous owner put on the car...

Frequent charging/discharging/jumping seems to make those optimas die FAST

I replaced 2 of them within 3 months in my corvette...

I put a cheapie duralast battery from autozone in the car and never had another problem out of it

I work for a retailer of Optima, their customer service department is great. If you call and tell them what happened at the store you went to, Optima will call them and even fax them an RGA(return goods authorization) direct to their store. Call Optima at 1-800-292-4359.

My dad has had the same red top in his car for 12 years. Those are great batteries, I don't care what anyone says.
