I just installed a 34/78 Redtop in my car with the help of one of the supplied adapters from Optima. It seems to be secure, but it is definitely not as secure as the battery before. How are you all mounting your Optimas in the engine bay? And before anyone says it, I know I should put it in the trunk -- plans are in the works for the future.

I took a piece of metal from Home Depot. I can't remember what it was for. Something to do with connecting roofing arches together. I would cut the six pack shape out of one side, and drill a hole for the bolt to go through. I made a whole bunch of these at one time. Back in High School, I was getting Red Tops for free, and selling Mustang conversion kits for like $40 with the battery.

Well, I have the Optima Red Top 35/75, works very well. I simply took an angle bracket from Home Deopt and bolted it to the stock battery hold-down. See for yourself.

Whoops, got a bit of coolant in the hold-down, I see.

And since some of you guys like pretty engine bays, here's a current photo of the Cobra conversion:

I'll have to make a custom battery tray because that is where my biggest issue is. The 34/78 battery is too big to fit in the tray and the factory plastic one is bending. I'll just deal with it until I put in the trunk. Thanks for you helps guys.
