dont get a yellow top. I was going to put one in my mustang and was talking to the interstate guy and he said if you kill they completely, they don't come back. I was skeptical so I did a test on the yellowtop I have in my Chevy S10. Since it was still under warranty, I went home and killed it with the stereo. After I charged it back up, it worked, until I went to start the truck the next morning. Nothing. So I jumped it and drove around to charge it, then I parked and left it till the next day. Nothing. Completely dead and wont hold a charge. I found it odd because thats what the battery was designed for!! The day after, I went to the interstate guy and returned it for a red top. I did the same test and everything was fine the next day. Needless to say, I now have a red top in my S10 and my 94 GT convert. I squeezed into the mustang by trimming the aft portion of the battery tray and wedging a small plate of aluminum between the bracket and battery. At least until my custom battery bracket shows up ($25). Can't remember where I ordered from. Use the search button, you'll find it. Hope this was helpfull
hmm i have a yellowtop in mine right now(got a 800watt amp and 2 12" subs), and im not having any problems I even left a couple of lights on over night and it starts right up.
<-- Drained my yellowtop completely atleast 4 times off hand and it has been thru 2 cars in the last 4 years still going strong... I won't waste my money on anything else when this one finnaly dies.
when i talked to the guy at the interstate store they told me the exact opposite, they said if i wanted one for a trunk mount location that could be charged, and then run at the track, use the yellow, cause it was a deep cycle style battery...
I have a yellow top battery I got from Sears and it came with a battery hold down clamp that fits in the stock location and uses the stock screw. If you alread have the battery, just go to Sears and swipe one off their battery on display - its just in a plastic bag. I had to cut/trim the edge of the tray to get it to fit. Peace
Minor trimming. I had one for 2-3 years. And it went dead on me...Was not worth the $$ IMO (I couldn't justify getting another yellow top for the $ for only 3~ years). I have an off the shelf battery now and it runs my accessories fine.
