My car has 3.27 gears and I want to install 3.73's and rebuild my traction loc...

Before I feel comfortable doing the gears I need a new clutch...

I figure if I am going to do a clutch I need new U joints...

As long as I am going to replace the U joints I might as well get an aluminum driveshaft.

My car doesn't have alot of motor mods yet and I am not expecting to notice a big difference with the new driveshaft but any additional smoothness at speed would be nice.

I like the idea of having the drivetrain sorted before I start adding power.

It never ends and I am just getting started...

If you're going to do the alum driveshaft, you might as well get a built transmission

If you're going to do the transmission you might as well do a crate motor

If you're going to do the crate motor, you might as well do a twin turbo

This is going to get out of hand !! lol

I noticed NOTHING with the aluminum D/S I put on my 96 Cobra with 4.10's. Waste of money.

That's weird, some people used to swear by them, I figured I'd get one when I get gears.

New u joints were going to be $100.00 anyway. This car is just a fun project for me.

Just because I don't "need" it doesn't mean I don't want it.

I bought a new mountain bike today because I wanted it.

I installed mine the same time as my 3.73 gears, so it's impossible to say whether the driveshaft alone made me faster or not. However, I didn't expect to gain any rwhp from it. I installed it for 3 reasons: first, because it's better balanced than the factory steel shaft, and it will move the driveline critical speed back into a safe range. Second, it will twist more than a steel shaft when a force is applied, which means driveline vibrations & shocks will be better damped. Third, because it has brand new 1330 U-joints. I also got mine at a really, really good price, so for me, it was too good to pass up.
