$300.- option for decal stripes over the hood and roof that are not factory installed! This is on a 2006 GT I ordered yesterday. They deliver it in a box with the car and you have to have the dealership put them on! Yikes! Do they have experience? Will it start coming off in a couple of years?

Should I not worry? or are they a bad idea since they are decals & cancell them from the order?

I would go ahead and cancel them . Wait till you get the car and have a shop that you can trust do a set of stripes for ya. If Im not mistaken the factory stripes dont go all the way down the front and rear bumpers.

Unless things have changed for the 06 - there is no such thing as a factory lemans stripe or any other stripes. They're all dealer installed and can be purchased in different configurations.

Gary - I returned your PM.

It depends on what look you are after. They will not cover the bumpers like the ones I have on my car. They will be much easier for the installer to put on, though. The over-the-bumper stripes are a real PITA to install.

I would not let the dealer put them on. Ask around town and find out who does the striping for various dealers. Then go directly to that shop and talk with them. There are different grades and thicknesses of vinyl. Even within 3M, there are different grades. See what kind of experience they have had in installing wide stripes, especially if you decide to to over the bumpers. That is not a job for amateurs.

I paid $150 for my stripes from Baltimore Steet Mods and $275 for installation. They're middle of the road on quality, and it's a good thing they included some extra vinyl, because he needed it to make them work. He did a fantastic job and it took him all afternoon. As I said, it's not a job for amateurs and you need to make sure you get a good installer when it comes time to put them on.

Factory Stripes

Skip the factory stripes and buy from a local graphic shop. Buy the highest quality you can afford. I'd ask for 3M or equivalent in your area.

Take a look around at what other Mustangs in your area have on. I like the ones that go all the way from the front to the rear. Don't care for the factory ones. I suspect the dealer would just send your car out to a local shop to put them on .........

Just my thoughts

I have to say that your car is awesome. I love the white with blue stripes. Where are you located?
