Footnfan, I'm talking stock GT 350 ,Automatic as was new! Hey I would like to have my 67 back too! ( I am trying to buy it back! ) But i will never get rid of my S-351 R-Code!!! I hope the storm misses you!! Also I have pics of your car that I had as a Screen saver! Also you need to take a ride in a R-Code! You will own one too!!! You have a great car and I didn't mean to get you mad! Sorry! Mark

Mark. Not mad here! I own an R code speedster and a converted ( Saleen blower system added....lower end rebuilt) non R code coupe that kicks the butt on the real R code!

Wow, I am honored you have a pic as a screen saver. Which one?

As for the 66 Shelby's, yes by todays standards, they are...were pretty tame. I am a firm believer that the advertised 306 HP was bunk.

As for my blue 66, it is just a benefactor of a completely modern set up. Huge heads, gigantic valve train and roller rockers, increased CI capacity. I recently detuned it so that I could use primarly 93 octane gas foir cruises....so it lost a bunch of high revving top end....butt it is still fun. The engine it came with is all gooped up for long term storage.

I like taking the car to dyno challenges. It makes a case for old school pushrod engines but it will soon be eclipsed...but I may have few more fun days left. Mod engines are the future....but I have won a buck or two against some mod blower engines. I always ask for a handicap.....but have yet to need it but new engines are making huge numbers....

I recently gave a twin turbo Mustang owner a ride and he dubbed the car a "freak of nature". He was really squirming in the third gear run up! He kept tugging on the over the shoulder seat belts...making them as tight as possible.

I think I'll just stop betting! Quit while you have a good story to tell!

Dan

Thanks Mark.

I don't care about how the car drives at all. I already built a couple of fastbacks. I have plenty of other cars that will do. I'm well aware of how lousy of a car for performance a 40 year old car is as I have one already.( can you say Tri-Power? )
I can pick and choose any S351 around and find something with zero miles on it anytime. The guys that hold the keys of 65-66 GT350's are holding on tight. That's what I'm up against. I'll just follow in Dan's footsteps and be patient and wait my turn.
I'd write a check for either one of Dan's 350's anyday. :D

Yeah, those Shelby Hertz Rental Cars are a waste of money. I would never want to own one of those?????

 I'm with ya! Makes you wonder why the Hertz cars are pulling twice the $$ as the standard GT 350's. Mine is just an old purple rental, so we'll just have to see what it's worth in 20 or so years. I'll probably have to pay someone to take it off my hands...:rlaugh:
