We were driving north on I-5 on Sunday just past Salem when I noticed in the distance a white 05+ Mustang on the right shoulder kind of tucked into some bushes. It was a white GT with blue stripes... no other markings. As we got closer I noticed the driver's door was slightly open. As we passed I saw a guy in a uniform and signature sun glasses using a radar gun. Is Oregon SP using unmarked Mustangs now?!?!?

Yes.

I know that Multnomah County has one and have seen a different one on Highway 22 outside of Stayton. I know that I saw one sitting on the shoulder under an overpass radaring people. Before I noticed him I know I was clocked doing 80mph but I never got stopped. I figured I was screwed.
That one has been around since late 05'. I go to Bend alot, he's almost got me a time or two....

Nate
I have family there and tend to go back and forth a lot. I have yet to really see any cops in my travels and I know I drive way too fast to Bend and back but have yet to get a ticket. :nice:

I see him mostly between Salem and Detroit Lake....:nice:

I am curious as to how they justify using a mustang for a patrol car????????
I know they make a killing of of *coughbull****cough* tickets, but why the hell do they need a mustang over a crownvic? How are they going to haul off criminals?
Or do they even actually do that.....?:nonono:

Why not? Tigard Police have some lil VW Beetle, Beaverton PD have a few Chargers, etc... I am sure the Mustangs are for road pursuit only and the police tend to run in packs so someone will be available to haul someones ass to jail if needed. Just think how much more uncomfortable it would be to toss someone under arrest in the back seat of a Mustang, hehe. Not that I have been in the back of a police car or anything in my life.
FYI: Beaverton's finest are out in full force!! Make sure you have a front license plate and that it’s visible. Don't ask me how I know. :bang:
Some dickwad felt it was necessary to remove the bolts from my front license plate and leave the plate laying on the ground. It's in my front window now but I am sure I am opening Pandora's Box for the Beaverton police to come and get me. I saw a pair of patrol cars tagging people around 20 minutes ago on Highway 217 between the Canyon Rd and Denny Rd exits on my way home. Good thing I know all of their hiding spots. My HIDs also reflect very nicely off of the vinyl decals so it's cake to spot them at night and adjust if needed.
Beaverton PD FTL :notnice: Watch out, there is a bike cop that loves to pull over for tint.
Part of the reason I am hesitant to tint my windows. I'd love to go around 25% all around just to keep it looking closer to the legal limit of 35% but with my luck I'd get profiled, stopped, and screwed over with the light meter. Seems the cops in Beaverton look for anything possible to rake in as much revenue for the city as possible. They probably need it, especially when the city pays for an attorney to defend one of their own for breaking the law and getting snapped by red light photo on duty. :bs:

Has anyone heard anything else about the progress or end result that whole ordeal yet? Haven't really read up on it or heard anything.

I was in portland friday night and they had a 06 red GT that was undercover. he was pulling over DUI's for a good hour strait in downtown. it was burgandy with police lights in the interior and hiddin in the fog lights in the grill with strob lights in the main lights. I've also seen a black 06 GT supercharged on I-5 in vacouver a few times that looks just like mine with 20's. so now i get random people asking if mine is the cop car lol

They are keen on this so they can f*@K you over wiht that goddamn van they park on Cedar Hills and the damn gestapo cameras all over the city. Big brother anyone? Ha. I knew a guy that donned a ski mask and threw a 4-way lug wrench through a window of that damn radar van after it got him.:rlaugh:

Beaverton PD is :bs:

They should do a Bull****! Show on the Beav PD.

Wait Wait, you have seen a cop car on dubs with a supercharger? Did you stop and ask to see it?

I cant believe the apparent lack of intelligence of the govt. when it comes to this. You see, it costs a certain amount to "train" these fine officers in the art of high pursuit. Then, it costs a nice hefty amount to attain the vehicle. Then they spend money modifying them to "LOOK LIKE US" and lastly, use a lovely amount of fuel in these thirsty v-8's. All this to generate a wee bit of revenue. You know only about 10% of each ticket goes to the city, if that. The rest goes to state. SOOOOO, they spend around $100k annually to bring in maybe 5k per car?????:nonono: SO, that throws the monetary logic out the window. Which brings me to safety... IF it is actually saving lives to have a high pursuit v-8 sports car, I would LOVE to see the linking statistics. My father is a sheriff, so don't confuse my motives. I love the thought of public safety, its just sometimes I don't believe that is what is being achieved and no one with the power to do anything wants to use logic...

It's been rumored that some of the patrol officers also use personal vehicles outfitted with lights to make traffic stops. Someone had mentioned an STI in the Vancouver area that was all fitted with unmarked lights and was used to crack down on the street racers. Whether or not that is true, I have no idea but it wouldn't surprise me, considering the officers would probably get some form of tax break for using personal vehicles.

W.S.P. Sleepers, STI, Z-28

The Washington State Patrol, up here in the Everett area has a WRX STI sleeper car running around looking for street racers!!
It is driven by one of my sons friends neighbors, I didn't believe them, so I asked the guy and its true!

Also there is a White Z-28 sleeper that cruizes between Lynwood and Marysville!
I've seen it pulling cars over in the South Everett area,
so anyone up in the Lynwood, Mill Creek, Everett, or Marysville area beware!!!!

See Ya Bill

They had better be careful as to not start the races or they will get hit with entrapment...

no i didn't talk with him but my buddy got pulled over by him and when the cop pulled away he did a nice little smoke show pulling back onto the freeway and he heard the supercharger spool up. and yes he'l rolling on crome 20's i guess it looks exactally like mine, same style rims and everything.

I used to work for dick hannah and the VPD picked up 2 STI's 4 WRX's, and one wagon last summer for there "street racing devision" i've also seen them in a pralude, F 350, and two 99-04 mustangs and i've heard rumor's of others. so there out there and like someone said they can't do anything if they start the race :D. just have to watch out.
