They calibrate their radars before starting shift, the cop will even say that in his statement, that he started shift at so and so hours and calibrated at so and so hours, etc, etc...

Do a search for "radar accuracy". I remember somewhere that there was a significant percentage of radar guns that are inaccurate. Or that like as much as 15% of tickets are innaccuately issued. Something to that extent. I say fight it what's the worst that can happen... you pay the stickin ticket.

most of them charge $250 which probably isnt much more then the ticket anyway and ull save on insurance if they get it dropped.....most also wont charge anything if they cant get it dropped or if they get it reduced then you would just pay the fine and then deduct that amount from the $250..........i just recently discovered this and will use it from here on out but i know of some people that have had 4 or 5 tickets dropped going this route

I've been in court when some of these lawyers get people off from speeding tickets. I think it has something to do with the yearly calibration of the gun. The way I understand it, they have to get them checked every year or so. The officer also has to calibrate with a tuning fork after every citation he writes and at the beginning of his shift. I could be wrong, but I'll ask a friend of mine who is a state bull around Monroe.

Washington doesn't even radar people heading the other direction anymore because the readings don't hold up in court.

Not true. Washington can and continues to radar either direction and either parts of the cruiser. In Clark County all the traffic units which I believe have increased to 5 now have radar on both ends of the cruiser. They use tuning forks at the beginning of shift to verify the radar is accurate which Darkness so described. Small towns like Ridgefield have a traffic cruiser that has radar on both ends as well so there are more then 5 in Clark County. They are using Choppers again to radar on I-5 between Woodland Longview, FYI

Btw, there is no radar log that I am aware of. They write notes of such items on the back of the ticket which is their portion of the copy. These are the comments the judge will read first before looking at the officers report.

well if its $450 then it would be worth it to pay a lawyer.....u dont even have to go with them to court......they can go for you so you dont miss work

CHP here in CA have radar on both ends of the vehicle, but enforcement is not like OR...Cruising speed here is about 80 if traffic permits it. Otherwise it's a parking lot most of the day.

My dad used to be a Chief Of Police and I almost became a cop myself. Do you know what kind of radar he was running? There's at 4-5 kinds and then there's Vascar. It isn't a radar system but a time calculator so it will not be picked up on radar detectors. If it was Vascar, it'll be hard to get it dropped or lowered. Of course, the judge will 90% of the time rule with the cop since they're such upstanding citizens... (insert sarcastic face here)

Been pulled over several times speeding in excess of 100mph. The key is to never admit guilt, talk to the officer as if you are confused why you got pulled over, but do it with a smile and be courtious. I've been lazored, paced, videod and I do not have one single ticket on my record. If you decide to travel over 100mph+ be aware you might be going to jail. 15mph over is considered wreckless/negligent and they can take you in if they choose to do so. Alot of them won't if you are not endangering other vehicles...in other words do it where there aren't cars around you have to dodge and the cops might be cool. I've had them let me go before after they pulled me over to comment on how nice my car is. Also between shifts is a great time to speed. Cops are headed back to base while others are in the meeting room getting their briefing. Find out by visting your local state patrol precinct or finding and making one a friend.
