I'm moving from the Tampa Bay area and I'm seriously considering Orlando or Melbourne, any comments on either from people living there? Do you like it or do you think another area would be better? Thanks for any help in this situation cause my house is up for sale and I still havent made up my mind as to where I'm going to move. Thanks for any insight.

It depends on what you enjoy doing. I live in Melbourne and like it quite a bit. I hear that other's find it boring though. If I didn't have a wife, house, dogs, and a few money pits (namely a Mustang and a boat) I might be bored too.

They don't call it Melboring for nothing....

Move to Orlando if you're worried about there being something to do, Melbourne is closer to the beach though

I live in Orlando and like it. There is pretty much something to do every night of the week if you want. The best part is that you are centrally located in the state, you can get to either coast in a short time.

What do you want? Do you want to live in a crowded downtown area, or do you want to live in a town CLOSE to Orlando? I live in Lake Mary, which is ~20 minutes north of Orlando. Its a very nice little city, kind of like a mini altemonte. Clean and virtually crimeless. I don't think theres ever been a murder here.

Anyways, take a drive up here and check it out. I'd say its a middle-upper class area. Lots of Cobras around here too.

Well I went and looked at some new subdivisions and am puttting my earnest money down for a home. Wont be built for a year so thats gonna suck but I like the place. The home is not too far from Colonial drive and the realtor said its about a half hour away from Cocoa beach in one direction and half an hour away from I-4 in the other direction from Colonial. My biggest draw to Orlando is the price of real estate. For $410k I'm buying a killer house, 3700+ sq feet. 3 car garage, 5 bedrooms plus a huge bonus room, etc... Where I'm at I couldnt touch a home like this for under $700k so I'm pretty excited about it.

I checked Melbourne out and thought the same thing. Orlando definately has more action going on. Melbourne seemed kinda boring to me as well and the beach looked like it sucked from what I've seen. Anyway it looks like Orlando is where Im headed.

Wow I never realized there was such a following or any following for a certain color Mustang. I just sold my Z28 yesterday so for all intents and purposes I have nothing to cruise with unless a conversion van with dubs qualifies When I finally settle in Orlando I'll be buying another car to play with (maybe a yellow stang?). Anyway thanks for the invite.

there is a big difference in just a couple of miles in the cost of real estate around here. And I mean not a difference in location that you can tell by accessablity, size or neighborhood. There is a lot to do with being able to say you live here or there.

Well I'm not too familiar with the area, got a house in Avalon Park. Is this considered a decent area?
