I heard Ford told all the dealers they were not to ad second stickers on Mustangs. I wonder if this is true. I know BP Ford was adding $20,000 on also.

Pathetic Never thought I would see the day that Ford comes out with a Mustang that starts at $69,465.00

But oh well, im sure there is a sucker out there that will buy it, there always is.

it doesnt "start" at 69k, thats AFTER the dealers get their 20+k. Still a chunk of change though.

It will be interesting to see if the GT500 can compete favorably against the C6 Vette. With a $10K rebate I think it will sell a little easier. By the end of the year, I'd say, unless they keep production very low.

If I'm not mistaken that looks to be about a $25k mark-up over MSRP. MSRP is roughly $42k.

Fascinating. Someone has signed up for the Shelby track day on Monday and says they will be driving a 2007 GT500. Seems appropriate, I guess, but surprising that someone would bring one to the track so soon.

65K for a stang ?!?!?! They must be out of their freakin mind.... You can get a z06 for that.

The guy with the new c6 at Starbucks the other day only payed 43K: Blk/Blk, 6spd, etc... but he had to fly to Detroit to pick it up. Probably saved himself 6-8 grand, from prices Ive seen around here.

Now without the 20K dealer arse reaming the Shelby would be a good car... but at 65, wow, thats allot of coin.

Just got back from Beaverton Ford.

Nice car and even the sales people were pretty nice about us looking at it - at first. But then the sales manager came out, locked the door on us and went outside to chew out the sales people for letting us look at the car!! What a ... jerk!!

Anyway, just had to vent. I'll never buy from that dealership as this isn't the first time I've been treated like crap there...

I bought my C6 locally in Oregon for MSRP 1 year ago. If you look around long enough you will find the right car for the right price. The dealrships were trying to sell me the car for 15k over.

BTW I went to damerow to check out the GT500 this morning, sat in it and got to check it out a bit (know one of the sale people there) and it is ok. The front end minus the cheap hood scoops looks awesome. The back end is pretty dull, looks very heavy. Still nice looking though.

I never thought the Shelby would take so much heat. First of all, a Shelby's msrp is $41-42k, with time, the price will drop to nearly just that, it has been shwon with the Ford GT. A terminator is worth the same as their msrp was back in 03-04. Why would you be willing to pay msrp on a car that is atleast 2 years old but not wait 6 months or so for a Shelby. Why would resale suck if you hold off for a while where as the Terminator's resale was great? For those who have a locked price near msrp, thats great, they really lucked out (my uncle, for instance). However, it does stink for those other 8,500 (give or take a few) or so who may end up paying the first release price of $69k. Why should the Shelby take such critisism for the private dealers arogance?

I do not see why the Terminator is so superior in some peoples' eyes. With simple bolt-on mods and a dyno tune, 600rwhp will not be difficult to achieve. 12.25s 1/4 mile with a 2.1 60' is impressive, apparently, the car is very difficult to launch. Granted, the 12.67 with the stock Terminator is even more impressive, but the Terminator was a bit easier to drive.

If you areout to buy thebest sports car for the money, look other places, weighing in at 700lbs less, the C6 is a very impressive car. With a Pro Charger, its even better. But whats better is that the C6 is already set up to handle all that power. the Mustang has never been know to be much of a performer on the skid pad, or track even at that. The Shelby is probably the best handling stock production Mustang ever, even so, if you pay $69k for a Mustang, I pity you, but there are people who will do it. if nobody buys, the price will drop. if everybody wants in right away, the prices will stay high. Same thing happened with everything from the X-Box 360 to the housing market. Supply and demand, dont let it get the best of you. back on topic. If you buy the Shelby looking to take on a C6 in anything but a stright line... good luck, it will be humerous. If you buy a Shelby and put 20k miles on it in the first year... you are not very smart. Who ever bought a Mustang to compete with a C series Vette? the Camaro and Mustang have been the showdown of all time, unfortunatly, Chevrolet jumped ship before Ford could really hand their ass to them (in the muscle department, probably not handling). the only reason the Shelby and Vette are compared is because there is almost nothing left for the Shelby to compete with. With the C6 costing that much more than the Shelby, I sure hope you are getting a "better" car. Are you owning as much heritage? Of course not. There is almost no other name than that of Carrol Shelby in the perfomance tuning market. Straight up heritage with unbelievable resale is what you will buying with the Shelby. Something the C6 will bemuch more pressed to achieve. I am not saing the late 60s early 70s Vettes are not worth anything, anybody who knows anything about cars knows something about the older Vettes, which are unbelievable muscle cars IMO, and I could only dream of owning one. The Shelby is out to achieve the same thing, but IMO, it will be of a much higher magnatude. the Shelby motor has so much potential it is insane. Could you imagine what a KB or Pro Charger woulddo for this thing?!

Ford is only releasing 9k models each year till 2010 for a reason. look at what the original Shelbys are worth, you think perhaps Ford wants a repeat? Of course they do. Its not the people puting the product on the line that are ruining it for everybody else, its the middle man. We got screwed in the housing market through the middle man (realtors, sorry Mish!).
