Outcome? My 88gt Vs. VW golf turbo 280rwhp?

A buddy of mine has a older 90's VW golf with a built 16v 2.0 motor. he has a t3/t4 turbo running 14psi and said it was on the dyno and made 280rwhp. I know his car is lighter, but this car is front wheel drive. Said he cant get traction in 1st or 2nd. Im sure his boost comes on late also, and he has alot less trq then i have. What do you think the outcome would be with both me and him running? here is the info on my car....

88 GT
GT40 upper/lower
MAC headers
No speed density (swapped MAF from 89GT)
Flowmasters
H pipe
K&N intake
MSD ignition
373 gears
King cobra clutch
Upgraded T5
Weld drag lites with skinny up front
Drag springs
FPR set at 40psi

Stock heads/block

Do I have a chance???

What about a wet shot of nitrous? How much could I run?

Any other free mods i could do to help me gain a few HP? Maybe advance my timing? Lower fuel pressure?

Thanks

Last year I had a 93 Sentra that had a sr20det that dynoed 275 and it ran high 13s with little to no traction. I know its a different car and turbo but they probably would run about the same quarter mile times. If you do it you might need a little help(nitrous).

I also think the VW will win at the top end. Go to your local track on test & tune night & find out. Its just for fun anyway right? I know it sucks to get beat by an import but, my buddy has a 3000 GT VR4 twin turbo that will walk all over me & he enjoys rubbing that in. It runs 11's @ 4000 lb & 23 psi boost with just a little 3.0 engine. Let us know how it turns out. It should get you motivated to start building your car more. it did me.

The major advantage you have is drag wheels/tires and around 300 lb ft of torque to launch with. Use it to your advantage and you will last into third gear. After that, PPPPPSSSHHHHHHHHH buhbye. You could spray a 50 shot and probably hang if not beat him. :nice:

I know how to drive, so driver issue will not be a problem.

I owned 4 MR2 turbos before my mustang, and all of them have been 250rwhp up to 380rwhp which i have sold prior to the mustang.

I know a t3/t4 is a pretty big turbo (i had a TD06 20G on my MR2 running 22psi), and he will have alot of lag with only 14psi. Even though he has a big weight advantage, if I also had 280rwhp but weigh 500lbs more.... I can still take him.

So you think i have about 250rwhp? Anything I can do to tweak/tune to squeeze some more horse out of the mods i already have? Lower fuel pressure? Run higher octane with more advanced timing? I never screwed with the timing, so i guess its still stock....

What kind of power can i expect from timing, and running 93 octane?
