well it looks like its time for an electric fan.. my car is overheating really bad at idle and driving around in traffic.. so which electric fan do you guys recommend.. i only have about $150 to spend on this because im out of money from the h/c/i.. let me know what you use and how it has worked for you.. thanks

On a budget? do the junkyard upgrade...

3G alternator from 94-95 Mustangs or other Ford. $20-$120. A must have to make the electrical system work like it should. You’ll need a 4 gauge power wire and a 125-135 amp fuse to go with it about $15- $30.

Lincoln MK VIII electric fan -$40-$160. Free up some HP by not having to drive the stock fan. The 3G alternator upgrade is a must have prerequisite before you do the MK VIII fan. You won’t have enough electrical power if you don’t do the 3G upgrade.
See http://www.geocities.com/smithmonte/Auto/MarkVIII_Fan.htm for some good info.

I second that. I would however throw in the 3.8 taurus/sable fan. It works great on my griffin radiator (not that I really hardly have to run the fan thanks to the radiator), but it works excellent. At idle I can lose (by means of the stock gauge) a full tick mark in about 15 seconds at idle (moveing it's another story :) ). Just because it is a sure fit and doesn't require clearance attention like the mark 8, i'de recommend it.

i second 87 GT's recommendation, as i know of one guy who runs one in FL with a 2G alternator (if you dont have a 3G, it sounds like you dont have the cash for one at this point). he runs cool using only low speed on the 3.8 fan.

i dont know what the SN95 fan draws, though it would probably be my first choice (hard to find Mark 8 fans here, they are hard on controllers, and some have seen quality issues of late).

any one should work for you though (sans the Mark 8 on a 2G alt).

good luck.

well thanks for all of the replys, but i ended up just buying a proform for like $150.. i was going to try to get a sable fan but by the time i got home from work, i couldnt find a salvage vards that were still open, and i needed it by tonight.. so now i have the fan mounted up, and half of the wire connections done and two more connections that im not sure about so ill finish that up tomorrow morning.. thanks again for the ideas though guys

only need fan when the car is not moving. if it does it while your'e moving then the radiator may be clogged. especially if it just started doing it.does it do it at highway speeds. had 94 that all of a sudden did the same thing. was clogged radiator.pull lower hose and add a little water at a time and see if it passes out fairly quick. if not then that may be it. the clog will be in the lower tubes if its clogged
