overfilling automatic transmission?

I read in my manual that the automatic calls for 12.8 quarts of fluid. It says DO NOT OVERFILL. Before reading this I put a 11oz. bottle of transmission additive that is supposed to make it run cooler. Will this 11oz overfill my transmission and damage it or am i worrying about nothing.

what does the dip stick read when hot now?

if it is way over the full hatches when hot then I would either service the tranny or if you have a mityvac suck out the excess if the tube can get down far enough.

a little over full wont hurt it, but way overfull and you can damage your transmission.
