Worked on the car on Sat and fixed one problem but found another one.
Car is a 1985 former V6, now powered by a 1992 5.0.
After fixing a transmission pan leak I wanted to test drive the car. So I fired up the car to check for leaks. I was happy to see that the transmission was no longer leaking but did see a small puddle below the passenger side of the car. I checked it out and it felt like water (a little oily) and noticed it was dripping from the little drain tube on the firewall. This struck me as odd since I had removed completly the AC. I ignored it and took it for the test drive. Car ran and shifted great. I decided to take it on the highway. Got on the highway and got on it and that is when I noticed the temp gauge reading really high
So I turn on the heat and get home ASAP. I get home and check and see no coolant leaks. There is however a steady drip from the drain tube bouncing off the exhaust.
Now, I remember my father taking off the raditor cap while the engine was running when I first finished the tranny pan gasket. I am wondering if this caused the car to run hot.
I am just nervous becuase I have heard that liquid coming from the drain tube is not a good sign.
Anyone have any ideas suggestions?
