so got my car back on the road and I'm still having a overheating issue. Things I swapped out when I put the turbo on was changed the thermo stat to a 160 star which that does open right at 160 or close enough to 160. Put a champion 3 row radiator in. Swapped the rotation on the water pump so I get better belt wrap. Someone please guide me as idk what to do now and I don't want to hurt my motor

I'm going to follow this as well. I don't care for how hot mine runs at times either. (New radiator, new coolant, 180 thermostat, Black Magic Extreme electric fan). Normally runs 180-195 depending. However, up hills, etc. will run about 205. Too hot for my comfort. How hot does yours run MikeH?

Wow, hear that. Hopefully some of these experienced guys will chime in shortly. Definitely want to hear their opinions. Either way, good luck on yours!

Only flows 1860 cfm??? I would be looking at something that flows 4k+. I'm not even sure I'd put that on a stock 5.0

Yeah it was fine with my t5 and a two row I'm wondering if between the intercooler being in the way and switching to c4 had anything to do with it I just put the deflector back on and drove it. It helped but still not any better

Lose those fans dude. I did the same thing with mishimoto fans. They didn't cut it, and had the same cfm rating. Went to a contour fan set and no more problems.

Also- you reversed the water pump rotation...did you change to a pump to match the rotation? There is a difference (in case you weren't aware.)

Yea that's what I meant changed rotation so I can flip the belt to the other side to get better belt wrap

@madmike1157 would say turbos are cooled by the whooshing of dollar bills and being propped on Jack stands

I just took those fans off my car. Brand new 3 Core aluminum radiator with that fan and shroud. Car ran to 220. Took the fans off, put the old ones on,190 during a 95 degree day. Now, needless to say, I was pissed. What a waist of cash. I'm gonna try vamping the shroud for the old fans, fingers crossed.

I think boosted runs contour fans. I prefer a taurus fan, but it may not fit with your setup.

1996 ford contour v6 fans. Had to buy some aluminum angle to make mounting tabs, but with the exception of 1/2" uncovered core at the bottom of the rad it's a perfect fit. It outflows those 1800 units by a long shot. By how much has been debated for a while here, but let's just say they do the job, and cost 100 bucks new from rock auto. Like @stykthyn says, taurus fans are supposed to be pretty good too, but I've never used them, haven't seen them or any data on them. Maybe someone else can step up there.

Mine's been cool for weeks. I go under the knife in the morning so it's probably gonna be a few more weeks too. Haven't been able to stand up long enough to reassemble it.

It's not published data as far as I know. Internet rumor is 2500cfm at low speed and 4500 on high. Im dubious it flows that high, but real world performance I could see 2k on low and 3k on high speed.

I imagine they'd work on a stock engine, but they won't cool anything making hp. If they're still in the package do yourself a favor and send them back. Otherwise you'll be losing $$$

I've read everything from 1800 (which is bull) to 3000. Lots of conflicting info.
