I'm on the fence with the 5lug swap. I like the idea of Cobra breaks but not sure about what wheels I would run. I really like my 17x8 Black Saleen 4lug replicas. Alot of the 5 lug wheels are 17x9 which requires bigger tires. Not sure how the car would ride with that much rubber in the front either.

That's not necessarily true, the majority of OE Ford Mustang wheels are 17x8. It's the aftermarket stuff is in 17X9, 10, 10.5, etc.

I agree 100%. Most of the 5lug wheels I like are 17x9 at the smallest though. For instance the black fr500, black 03 Cobras, etc, etc. The only knock off wheel available in 17x8 5lug that I think are "decent" is the black Bullitt replica.

For OEM wheels I do kind of like the chrome 99 Cobra style.

I don't know about "overrated" but a "mod" that just plain pisses me off is when people will cut a GT rear bumper to route the exhaust through it. Just plain ignant.

Ugh, yah, that's the worst.

Another one I thought of is when people decide to paint the embossed MUSTANG GT on the ground effects a different color then the rest of the car.

I'd love to change my two tone grey / black interior to all black. If someone want to trade let me know.

As for 4 lug the only benefit for 5 is for brakes.

Coupe or Hatch? Prefer the Coupe but way too hard to find but currently have a GT in the garage and fine with that.

Well there is also the added benefit of a 5th lug holding the wheel on in a drag racing application. I've seen quite a few rims sheer off the lugs, even on a 5 lug car. I wouldn't trust 4 lugs with slicks. Yeah, i know guys do it all the time, but not MY car.

And the GT bumper tail pipe thing....i've seen it a couple times look pretty decent. It just takes some effort and the right tail pipes. If you think about it, it's nothing Ford didn't do themselves on the new edge cars.

I love my five lugs and Cobra brakes, I do miss my Ponies though. I think my hatch would look great now with them since it is lowered.

You're probably right but Bullitts > Ponys times infinity squared

I gotta agree that the notches are a bit overrated but I do like the look. I just wouldn't spend the extra money for one. I love my five lug disc brakes though. I always wanted bullitts and now I do! and I don't miss my red interior at all, I like the all black that I got.
what I really don't like are the altezza headlights and tail lights and people covering their cars in stickers. if you are not being sponsored or advertising for someone there is no need to fill you back window with stickers. a couple are fine but some people go way overboard

I was guilty of the stickers thing at one time. I almost even put a Jeggs sticker on my car. Thank god some common sense hit me. I have two stickers on my car right now....a Cincy Speed sticker, because the owner hooked me up big time on tuning and i will gladly advertise for him in return, and a tribute sticker for a friend who passed away. My painter wanted to scrape them off....and yeah maybe the car would look better without them, but they have purpose.

Here's mine...

big ass cowl hoods or hoods with scoops and such....unpainted and ill-fitting.

If you have a big engine, and need the cowl that's one thing, But tossing on a big hood for looks just never made sense.

Plus 90% of the hoods out there are fugly, and fit like butt. Then to top it off guys put them on unpainted for a paint job that never comes...

That's so true, and i've even had guys say that about my car. I've been told that my scoop is non functional, when in fact it is in two ways...it lets in air for the carb, and it provides hood clearance for the breather. The paint thing is dead on though and i even had a guy on another forum say he thought my car would be one of the ones that never got paint. It sure felt like it sometimes. Around here most guys just spray bomb their cowl hoods black.

EDIT...actually, letting in air for the carb, probably not. I'd say more air comes through the front end than through the scoop, so there's probably too much air pressure to let air in through that ~2 inch slot. Still, it provides enough clearance to fit a Victor Jr. intake under the hood which i would need a big cowl for otherwise.

Here's my number one most over rated.
Custom chips or tuners.
You guys can plead all the crap you want, i've seen it tested every way.
Driveability my ass, if you picked and installed the parts right there is no driveability issues.
On a properly built car the stock computer will beat a chip every time.
Not sure there is a bigger waste of money.

Bottom line if you think a tune is the answer, it's not. The answer is fix the stuff you messed up.

As for the large hood thing. I agree completely, but i think it falls under a different catergory than "over rated".
More in the Stupid catergory, along with any other head light other than stock or stock style (worst of all one piece or projector).
