I have a 06 GT Convert. It has just under 30k miles. I have been trying to do some research on just how many other stang owners have had problems. I did read the other post where ford offered to fix another owners hood and he would have to pay some. He was already outside of the 3 yr 36 miles when he reported it.

Here is my problem I reported it the first time in 09 maybe earlier Ford said the first time it has to be perforated. So last May/June 2011 I took it back after paint was falling off. they "offered" a split 50/50 where I would pay around 750 bucks. It just doesnt seem right.

PS the car was in the shop at 18 months with dead battery and again at 36 months If it sits for more then 6-7 days it is dead. They said they know about the drain and the "fix " was that I need to install a trickle charger or make sure I drove the car for at least 20 minutes above 2k rpms every few days.

I really do love the car, my only mod was slp loudmouths

Drive your car more and for the hood, I would take the 50/50....if it truly was a problem in 09 while the car was under warranty you should of stayed on them at the time instead of waiting til the car is 7yrs old and 3yrs past warranty...just me .02

I do drive it, except when I was away for work, or vacaion, or a few bad snow storms when you could not even go around the block Pretty sucky to come back to the airport and need a jump in a new car
The car is not even 6 years old It was reported at the 3 year mark, and again last year. I also purchased the extended warranty which I see is useless.

2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013...... seems a few more than what you counted came out, but that's besides the point...If you spotted the issue within warranty you should of been proactive instead of waiting and taking the replies they gave you at the service center, I don't see why ppl join forums just to steam a car that they bought for there first post. Seems kind of pointless to me, it's a car sh!t happens

not steaming a car at all, I love the car or was that missed in the first post? If anything steaming at ford for not fixing 2 significant issues. When I first reported it to them, I listened to the dealership and just let it go. Which is a mistake, hopefully I wont make again plus a learning experience for others to not make the same.

Sh!t happens is when a limb falls on it, bird poops on it, not a company that has issues but wont fix them. I had actually just accepted it recently when another ford owner another saw it and told me some new info which is what started me down this path again.

Thanks for your thoughts, have a great Day!

Couldnt've said it better myself. Ford had has 5year unlimited mileage warranty on paint from warranty start date. If the service guy jiggled your balls then go over his head. That's what 800 numbers are for, granted most of those people are as sharp as marbles (no offense to C/S personnel covering this forum) but atleast its a logged complaint with corporate.

Ford is aware of the paint issues associated with their vehicles.

Search the internet and you will find a September 2011 newscast
From NBC Chicago titled: Car Owners Upset About Bad Paint Jobs.

Vehicle owners around the country have been very successful in winning
In small claims court on this issue, including the Mustang.

Search facebook (Ford-Mercury Peeling Paint Complaints) and you will find
the details needed to address this issue.

Well if you're on record and the service guy did what he was supposed to do which is submit pictures to Ford via internet then you could have a chance

You guys need to tell your dealership to look at TSB 06-25-15. Also if you car is out of warranty it might be a good idea to pm the Ford Cust service rep who monitors Stangnet . In the past they have been helpful in getting Ford to pay most of the repair cost for this issue. If your your cars are still under warranty there should be no issues at all with getting this repaired.

I contacted the dealership yesterday, they repeated the only time they could do something with the paint is when there is a hole. I told them its an aluminum hood it cant have a hole. He said nothing he could do.

Yes he is correct the rust warranty covers rust through only, there has to be a hole. which as you stated is not happening on an aluminum hood. He is also correct that there is nothing he can do. The dealership cannot help you in this case. Ford tells them whats covered and whats not, it's not up to them. If you are going to get any assistance it will have to come directly from Ford. As I said earlier PM the Cust service rep on this board or call 1-800-241-Ford. Tell them that you understand that the car is past the warranty but you are looking for assistance being that it is a known concern hence the TSB. There was a guy who posts here that had to lay out about $250 and Ford covered there remaining $800 or so. I'm not saying that is what they will do for you, they may not do anything since car is 6 years old, but that's the route you have to take. Good luck !
