My check engine light was on for about 8 months because of P1443 before I did anything about it. I never saw any differenece at all in how the car ran during that time. I first replaced the sensor, the one in the second pic with the solid black tube connecting on one side and the black tube with red stripe connecting on the other. My check engine light stayed off for about a month then came back on. I then replaced the cannister/solenoid and havent had the code since. Heres the part #'s the sensor was like 15 bucks and the cannister was around 50.

Yes.
I had the P1443 code and it turned out being the Flow Sensor. It is very common for this sensor to go bad on not just Mustangs but on a lot of Fords. Notice the "-BA" in the part number. It has been redesigned/improved.

Like Slithering said, Ford is the only place to get them, I called Autozone and Advance at the time trying to get them and neither of them had or even heard of such.

Recently the code cut off for a good 4 days then it came back. I don't want to replace anything that isn't broken. Ford said it will cost me about $75 for both the solenoid and purge flow sensor.

The problem/code may still be there. The PCM may have just shut the light off temporarily.

I read somewhere that you can take them off and clean them out with some carb cleaner. They get dirty and sludgy because of what they are.

I replace mine and the hoses because they were starting to dry rot and haven't had the code since.

Good luck,
Dustin
