Paint Color Question

I'm ready to repaint my 65 restomod convert. The color I am looking for is a dark metallic (pure) RED, so dark it looks almost black. My paint shop can't find the color, and I know I've seen a few cars that color. First try came up with a purple ("black cherry"), second try was more maroon. Neither worked with a tan top and black interior. Anybody know a car/year reference for the pure metallic red but very dark color I'm looking for? Real red, no blue or maroon in it.

I think you're making great color choice, but trying to find it in an OEM color may not cut it. Try checking with custom paint manufacturers like House Of Kolor. They thrive on stuff like this and can give you what you're looking for, I promise. Look at www.autobodydepot.com for House of Kolor stuff at great prices or post a question on www.paintucation.com. agreed, your going to have to check out house of color and ppg for one of their mixes. You could probably base a car in black and put candy red over the top but its best to call them or look around. If there is a large car show sometimes ppg etc have booths and such to check out. Though in the middle of winter this gets kind of hard . Good luck.
