I think this is a good deal. After several people in the area recomended this guy I went to get an estimate. He told me $2500 for a three stage Matrix laser red paint, remove the ripple from the front fender and the 20 or so little dings. He said he will remove the front and back window moldings and remove all the parts ie: handles, lights, bumpers and the parts above doors and the quarter window.

This guy seems to do nice work (saw two cars getting buffed out after paint jobs) so is $2500 a good deal or should I shop around more?

I think hes on the up and up. I have never had a car repainted so had no idea about cost. He also said it will have a lifetime warranty against clear peeling or premature fading He is going to use Matrix and said if I wanted PPG is would be $230 more but said there is no difference in the two paints, just paying for name.

I used PPG DBC (Deltron Base Coat) when I painted my trunk with OMNI clearcoat and had excellent results. So I'm a big fan of PPG. Does he paint in a booth or outside? Also find out how he dries the paint/CC (heat, air dry, IR, etc.) .. If he shoots in a booth, that's a plus. If he uses heat or IR to cure the paint then thats a plus also. If he shoots in a dusty environment with other cars all around then be weary.

I don't know but environmentally controlled booths are FTW! Even if you let it just air dry in a booth, it will turn out great. Sounds like a good deal man. See if he can show you some pics of other cars he's painted, etc. Also, call around and see what other people quote you for the same paint job. Then look and see if there is a huge discrepancy and go from there. It's worth doing your homework before you plop down a large sum of money (for anything for that matter) ... I'm saying to see what others quote you for comparison purposes to see why someone would do it for way less than others. I hope that makes sense ..

why would you strip and prime a whole car? Assuming the stock paint is adhering just fine.

He said the booths both are temperature controlled so they can work year around and have a filtering system for the air inside them. I checked another place today and he quoted $5000 and said he needed the car a month.
Jerry's said he only needs it a week. If I go to the local auto shops and ask who do they reccomend its been 3 out of 4 for Jerry's, the other one was the $5000 guy.
So now all I need is $2500, anybody have spare change

Why would you want to know if it's a good deal if you don't have the money?

Cause i'm a broke d^%k I had been saving for a Twin Screw for awhile and I will have to put it off for a little bit b/c I would only have $900 left (I dont make a whole lot). I dont really NEED all that power so I think the car would look a whole lot better with a fresh paint job, just look how pink the back of the car is

Yeah, the back is pretty jacked up (paint wise) but the majority of it could be buffed out as long as there isn't paint missing and what not.

What's in the garage?

Old Vette

That was the Cobras old owners house ( i have only had it two months) I keep it pretty well clean and waxed. The paint is shinny just dull Almost all the candy in the paint faded, just worse in the back I think it used to sit in a car port. This is what it looks like now, took a picture at my frinds house. The back is still really faded.
