paint question please

hey guys i am getting my car painted and i searched the forum and internet for a whil and could not find my answer.

i have an 87 gt with ttops and red interior. my car is currently painted a realy bad grey like color almost titanium. the color code on my car is 1k which from doing research is smoke. after googling some pictures i see that the smoke color is lighter than what my car is painted now. i really like the two tone foxes wit the titanium bottoms. i saw some pictures onine with the smoke top, titanium bottom and blue stipe on the body molding. i really like that look but the blue stripe would look terrible with the red inteior.

my qyestion is, did they make a smoke top(1k) titanium bottom(73) with red striping around the body molding?

Are you asking because you want to see pictures of a car like that or because you want to know if it can be done? if its the later of; course you can put a red stripe on there if that's what you like. Personally I'm not a fan of the blue of red stripe. I went custom on mine with 4 or 5 small black pin stripes so it doesn't really stand out but it does break up all the red. it's all personal preference i guess

paint the car however you would like it there is no reason to paint it back to facotory

I wouldn't even do the stripe. I do like that color combo though.

I really like when they just paint the whole car titanium, think that's what I'd do if I ever repainted a 2tone

thanks for the replies. i was asking to see if that is how it came from the factory. i found my color code inside the driver side door and it is 1k 73 so it was a two tone. i really like the stripe on the molding. personal preference. i think it brings out the 80's styling.

and if anyone has a picture of that combo that would be sweet. i am contemplating between that combo or all white with the red stripe. yes, i love the molding stripe

Does any one have any tips for putting the door molding on? What to use etc?

Go to a body supply store. Its pretty much double stick tape.
