How do you get that gloss shine whenever you finish spray painting? I scrap off the old paint and repainted it but it doesnt have a shine to it. How do you guys do it? Also Is it really necessary to take the old paint off? can you just paint over them? Its not like Im painting the car, just some minor imperfection in the engine bay.

Well.. you could either use gloss paint or buy some clear coat in a spray can.

you can only do so much with a rattle can.

Paint prep is the bulk of the work. Also things that are smooth shine more than rough things. Clear paint over top of whatever you paint will make it shine.
