I was wondering what paint to use if I want my calipers to come out a High gloss black finish just like the paint on my car...would it be ok to use duplicolor automotive paint and put some clearcoat on top of that or should I go with a high heat paint and clear coat that?

Neither of those options will last long from the heat. Use a ceramic paint which dries with a nice gloss. You can have ceramic paint mixed just like regular automotive finish. I had mine mixed 3 years ago from a company I found using Google. If I can find the receipt I will post the company name and phone number. Check with Car Quest they might mix ceramic.

i think i used that same kit, same color on my mach 1 brakes. it looks like sex. On my old stang I had 10th Anniversary Cobras on it and it appears to be almost the same finish.

Just type in "caliper paint" on Google. There's probably 50 kinds. I've heard the kit from WallyWorld is wack.

aww.. I was going to make fun of the mudflaps

My car has seen many different colors of calipers. The car is red and so far (in order) I have had: performance red, old ford blue, black, and now silver. I currently have the back still black since those puney things don't need to stand out any...they are pretty pathetic due to how small they are.

I've used high temp engine paint without any problems as of yet I have never used the caliper kit that you can buy, though im sure they work nicely

Use VHT caliper paint (comes in spray can) ... It goes on easy and is pretty forgiving in terms of runs. The black gives a great gloss.

Here's a pic from when I had my rotors turned and painted the caliper part with the yellow and the outside bracket with the black VHT:

It's not perfect but it looks good enough for me.
