Anyone done it before?

Basically I am curious as to how to prep it to be painted with Trim Paint.

I have used Back to Black and all that junk on it, so I will need something to clean it thoroughly. Would alcohol do the trick?

Let me know the processed you used, and throw some pics in if you got em. Everyone loves pics!:nice:

Scuff sand and wipe it down with denatured alcohol for good measure.

Then tape off with some really good tape and paint.

I plan on painting my car black from the bodyline up but painting the cowl DFG like the rest of the car.

i cleaned mine w/ 3M grease, dirt, wax remover (comes in a tin can, got it at Advance) and painted it with duplicolor black. came out nice, but i scratched it putting it back on the car. it would be MUCH easier putting it back on with the hood off the car.

Yeah, just clean it real good and scuff it up a little with scotch brite pad(I think thats what it's called).

To remove it, I'm thinking you need to remove the weather stripping between the cowl and the hood and there's some screws underneath that. You need to remove the wipers too, of course.

Fusion is the best stuff to use for this. i used 3M cleaner, its the best stuff out there IMO. better than paint thinner or denatured alcohol. just clean it really good with that stuff, hose it off, clean it again. wipe it down with damp cloth. make sure you get all the dust off. spray multiple even light coats. better to be on the light side and have to go over it again then to do it heavy.
