I have a basically stock '89 GT thats getting ready to go in the body shop and I have collected almost all my parts for the black interior conversion. I would like to clean up the engine compartment by painting my intake and valve covers....do I just unbolt these to get them off? will I hurt anything if I take them off? will I need to replace gaskets when I reinstall them? Thanks.

no your not gonna hurt anything...just put a rag over the lower intake after you take the upper off so you don't drop any bolts or nuts or anything else for that matter down into the lower. And yes buy new gaskets. Hope that helps.

I agree, be very careful to not let anything fall into the lower intake. Bad news.
