Yeah it seems everytime i come here and read people are getting banned or are fighting, thats why i dont post too much. I normally only post when i need help but i am usually here reading every day or so. Somehow though i always seem to miss what gets everyone so angry around here, this place has so much knowledge i dont know what i would do without it. Everyone just needs to get along so the mustang hobby will continue for many generations to come. That is what this place is all about isnt it?

Wow after reading that stuff... Paks car was my favorite for so long i felt so bad when i found out it was wrecked... then i just stopped reading for a month or so because of other projects... now i go back and see all that additional bull in that thread... its a shame :(

My opinion

is that a code of conduct for contributing here should be memorialized and posted so that everyone knows what kind of behavior is off limits. That way, posts get deleted and people banned based on a written policy rather than on a subjective, ad hoc basis. Had there been a written user's guide in place, then Pak might have thought twice about mocking Ozzum's loss and Ozzum might have refrained from a public threat. I propose establishing such a code of conduct. Give Pak and Ozzum a ban on posting here for 60 days based on what has transpired here and let them come back. Subesquent violations of the user's guide get you banned. Just my EUR .015037

There is a EULA, you had to agree to it before you can post. I'm sure it is there somewhere if you search for it. Maybe they should make you resign the agreement every 30 days or so.

I cannot find the UA anywhere. Until you reminded me of it, I had forgotten ever seeing it. To tell you the truth, I still don't remember agreeing to it or what its contents were. That is my point. The UA should be at the top of each forum. It might cut down on the virtual fistacuffs.

There shouldn't need to be a guide on how adults need to act in a civil manner in public....and I consider this a public place. The problem is that although public we are actually insulated from one another enough on the internet that some people will do and say things they would never have the courage to do if the other person was standing right in front of them. Use the golden rule and you shouldn't have to worry about being banned.

Oz crossed the lines with the sophmoric physical threats but I understand exactly where he was coming from and I hold Pak more responsible for what transpired. Pak has a history of singling out people and personally attacking them. He also has no idea when to stop. Do you remember when he kept mocking Hopkinator's religion? Pak must have aweful small man parts or a personality disorder so I am glad he is gone, and it is a shame that Oz let his temper get the best of him resulting in his removal also.

Oboebrian posted it as a "sticky" at the top of the Classics Talk section........

Now somebody please :lock: this thread!

Pak harping on the Hopkinator was the first I had ever really seen him picking on someone at all, and I've been around here a looooong time. Oz did give some good tech, but most of the time he seemed to be spouting his "dry sense of humor" or being the stangnet classic forum nazi in some sense. Pak may have the distinction of having the most featured car of the day on Stangnet. I've heard worse things out of Historic or Hopkinator than I've heard out of Pak and I like both of them, but I guess I missed anything about Oz loosing babies and Pak harping him for it. Doesn't sound like the Pak I know. I'll do some research on it I guess and go from there. I have 3 kids and it'd kill me if I were to loose one of them before I go, so I know Oz's feelings from that point, but to keep going at Pak when Pak was trying to make a decision about what to do about his wreck seems to be what really started all of this, so maybe he should have just shut up (if you don't have anything nice to say....) I tell you there have been tons of threads that I would have liked to go off on but held my toung..err fingers. You just have to show some resraint sometimes.

As far as someone being banned all the time on here, other than maybe a first time poster that advertises his car for sale in his first post on the tech section, the last one I can remember that was banned was Moneymaker, and he was the Classic Moderator!!! Now how many of you here remember when he and Steve L were here? That was what started the Mustangs and More website. I met Moneymaker at the WFC in '99 in Joliet, IL and he was kinda like he was on here, thought his stuff didn't stink, kinda reminded me of Oz. Oz may be a Christian, but he didn't seem very humble at all, at least Pak would admit if he was wrong about something.

IMO, part of the problem is that most of the rules are never enforced, and at times even violated by the moderators, so there is no fear of enforcement to keep people within the rules. Had the verbal attacks been squashed early on, or non-tech items been routinely cleared out of tech, I don't think we would have ever gotten to this point. That's why I have always felt OT threads should be cleared from Tech. If we kept this forum strictly to discussing Classic Mustangs there would be little chance of things spiraling into such a mess. We would have more integrity as a forum and a stronger contributing membership. People should be able to come to this forum with the shared interests in Classic Mustangs and be able to leave all their differences (political, race, religion, age, economic status, education level, etc) out of it.

Just my opinion

Guys just drop it please. PLEASE! What's done is done; let's move on.
I agree to a large degree. Let it die, stop talking about Pak and Oz (and whatever transpired, I don't care enough to research it), there's nothing constructive to be said or heard anymore on that subject.

However, talking about the rules, netiquette (there's a word you never see any more) and what we want this forum to be IS constructive and should continue though. Keep the discussion generic and don't use names...just MHO.
