Im doing a 5 lug/4 wheel disc conversion on my 91 notchback. I am having a hard time finding the M 2809a cables for the parking brakes. I think they have been discontinued. My question is can I use cables from a 93 cobra set up? I can get those pretty easy. They are also 70/71 inches long

Mustangs unlimited didn't have them either. Lucky for me I have a great mom and pop parts supplier here and they were able to find me a set of 86 SVO cables. I should have them here in about a week

Svo cables are not the same. They won't work.

Ford calls them svo cables, but they are not for an svo mustang, they are completely aftermarket. Ford racing was previously called "SVO - special vehicle operations"

1993 cobra cables won't work either. Basically the 1993+ e brake setup is different. You can mod your 91 setup, but it will require the newer cables and the trans tunnel cable mount to be welded in.

I wonder if I should buy a set of cables to store away before they become impossible to find.

edit. I did a little intermit searching and it appears the svo cables make work with some modification to the cable end that hooks to the caliper. I don't jnownthe extent of the mod, but you may be in luck
