Occasionally when I apply the brakes rather hard the parking brake light on the dash comes on. It will do this for a while and then stop for a day or two. It usually does not come on if I barely apply the brakes. I chcked the rear brakes and they appear fine. There is plenty of pad left, and the brakes work fine. Does anyone know why this happens, and what I should do to stop this from happening.
Thanks,

Raul

Don't add fluid til you check the front brakes.

The was the fluid center is rigged, with fresh pads front and rear, the fluid should be filled to MAX fill or slightly under.

As the pads wear, the level drops and trips the sensor before the pads are worn down to nothing.

Doesn't always work though, but that's the idea.

So check both the front and rear pads and then check for a leak before topping off

There are no leaks, and the pads have quite a few miles left on them.
