Parking Lot Bumpers

ah...you guys are talking about parking stops. It's the driveways and steep inclines that get me....hitting them at an angle only does so much unfortunately.

I can't even begin to count how many things I've scraped since getting the lower GT500 front and the LTs
The really bad thing was just the other day trying to get into a parking garage at the National Harbor...it was an incline up towards the gate...the floor leveled back off just before the gate, but I couldn't even get that far as my car was dragging big time on the transition! Good thing nobody was behind me, as I had to back out to the street and find another garage

Who owns the red car. That thing looks bad ass. Especially the hood.

Damnit......just when I was feeling good about scoring a set of FRPP 1.5" lowering springs for $100, I see all of this talk about scraping and sh**

The plan is to get matching FRPP dampers, Steeda caster/camber plate, and camber bolt before I do the install, but now I'm wondering if I should just install them with the stock dampers/strut mounts to see if it's gonna be too low before I spend the money on all of the other stuff.

I have the tools to be able to do the install in a couple of hours, so changing the other stuff later wouldn't be a biggie.........

I park in alot of parking garages, and a couple of them have pretty steep inclines on the entrance.

Right now the front end is stock, but eventually I'd like to do the GT500 front end similar to what Kooldawg has.

I agree cars can look cool lowered. But with all the hassles, is it worth it? I drive my car every day. I think I prefer it to be a "bit tall in the saddle" than to be a constant hassle.

yea real world driving makes it tough to lower them too much. My wife's V6 I lowered in the rear. When I buy the GT I'm going to do the same thing to it.

It all depends on how the roads and entrances to parking are in your area. My girlfriends civic sits lower than my car will when it gets lowered and she scrapes the front bumper on fairly short curbs. It barely clears the 3.5-4 inch curb/sidewalk at our apartment. I swear Honda designed that car to scrape and crash the front bumper into every little thing. She did gain some extra clearance when she hit a raccoon and it tore the whole bottom of the bumper off.

Well, not being the only one makes me feel at least a little better.... I bought my 09 GT 3 weeks ago and yesterday tore open about 1 inch on the underside of the front bumper. Turns out there was a rebar sticking out from the parking bumper that I hit - exactly like the OP described.
Oh man, so painful, my brand new, first-ever Mustang. Well, lesson learned. I'll never again pull up so close to any goddamn parking bumper. In any case, I guess I'm gonna live with the bumper for a few months and see if I can avoid future scratches and dings....

That red GT is soooo beautiful!!!

The car belongs to a buddy of mine. He has the Saleen S/C on it pumping out nearly 475 to the wheels The hood is from Cervini. I got to drive it around a bit later that day. WOW is all I can say!!!!!

why dont you just back into spots with a cement bumper? I understand some people (such as myself) have to learn how to back into a spot, but its a lot harder to FUBAR the rear bumper then it is the front, especially when its lowered or has a chin spoiler. . .

Best f#cking stang I have ever seen!!!!!!.....I am drooling now!

Back on topic:

My viper truck is lowered and its hell parking that beast. I dont plan to lower my stang for that reason. I avoid all curbs etc.. when parking. I usually back in and or never pull in all the way. The previous owner of my stang cracked the lower part of the front piece already. I also always park way out in the weeds to avoid door dings.............those piss me off to no end! In five years of owning my truck I have zero door dings! I plan to keep the stang in the same condition.

First off if there is a parking lot that has REBAR sticking out of the curbs and its in front of a buisness BY LAW its that buinsess job to fix the matter. If a person was to fall on top of the rebar fault or not they could sue the SIHT out of the buisness. SECOND... just learn to be mindful of were you park and how close ! IF at all possible just avoid those areas and park were there are no curbs ! Good luck... take pictures of the curb and rebar area, show them to the buisness and then to BBB with a complaint if they wont fix there parking lot or comp, you some cash for THERE parking lot being out of code and destroying your front end! ..Sorry for the rant had a friend who owns a Ferrari and the same thing happend ,, buisness refused so he got a lawyer and sure as SIHT there is an actual law nation wide for buisness's parking lots and guidlines there SUPPOSED to follow!

I never back into a parking place and, frankly, it bugs me to see people who do. Those backed into a space have to go the wrong way out of a parking lot (one ways such as at Wal-mart) when they leave the space. The spaces are angled for people to pull into them. Those who back in must go the wrong way on a one-way to get into them and exit the wrong way
I think that is dangerous. My two cents.

i guess its a regional thing, but there arent many places around here (staten island, NY) with one way parking lots. in fact the only two I can think of are a local diner, where the only time I took the stang I backed in and was still able to pull out properly (didnt have much choice since its a one row lot) and the wal mart just over the outerbridge. . .

I usually park backwards in a space but it is suposedly illegal here. Its called jay parking. I usually just park about a mile away and take up two spots.
