my passenger side window will only roll up and down if you use the button on the drivers' side. so just to clarify this would mean that its the switch on the passenger side that went out right? just tryin to narrow down what i need to look at before i tear my door pannel off tomorrow night.

thanks in advance guys

Might be able to take it apart and clean it. Just watch for the springs in it. I did that and got mine to work again. You can also use the lock switch in it's place to test it. They are the same basic switch, but the plastic locating tab is different. I just cut the tab off the lock switch and then it will fit in any lock or window switch location.

If you need an new one, I noticed my local O'Reilly Auto had them in the "Help" parts section for like $12 each. Might call around to see if a local place has them.

Most likely that is your problem. You should test it with another switch to make sure though like trbkrb was saying.
