I have been on a long journey to my new 06 GT. My advice to all is to stick to your guns and get what you want at the price you want.

I have been to just about every dealer in the Dallas Metroplex. Just about all told me no X-plan for cars on their lots, however 3-4 said they could order on X.

I ordered my car from North Central Ford on 8/5 supposedly on X. I did not sign anything and did not leave a deposit. I then contacted my salesperson by email (3x), phone (3x), and in person (3x) for updates on my order. Each time he could not give me any information but would say he thought the order was in. Finally in the 4 week (don't know why I waited so long) I went to speak with the GM on my order. He checked in the system and no order. He then personally place my order and gave me the DORA in 15 min. This was great, however he did not apologize for the service I had received up to that point.

Getting frustrated, I decided to do a search of all mustangs with my specs in the Dal Metplex (9/10). I started in De Soto (20 min south of Dallas) at 9am and worked my way north. The closest I got to X-plan were on 2 05's that were at Sam Pack in N Richland Hills. They would not budge of of sticker on the 06 I really wanted. By that time it was 7pm. I was about to drive home and said WTF and decided to drive further north to the last dealer in Dal that had the car I wanted. I arrived at Sam Pack in Lewisville a 8 pm (30 min north of Dal). They had the car I wanted on the lot. I said to the salesman "I'm gonna ask you a crazy question. Will you honor X-plan?" He said no problem. My jaw hit the floor. By 9:15 I was on the road in my new GT. I was overjoyed and exhausted.

Sorry for the long story. The car has everything I wanted except spoiler delete.

Stick to your guns. You'll thank yourself at the end of the day.

BTW, I drove up to North Central on Sunday in the new car and saw my salesguy. He mentioned that he was almost fired over the incident and was leaving the dealership. He also said he didn't blame me for following up with the GM. He shook my hand and congratulated me. Such is life.

I now have an 06 and 03 GT.

That story is alot like mine only it involved less travel.

I went to a dealer just to look at the stangs. At that point I didn't know what car I wanted to get. I saw this beautiful black one alomst fully loaded and manual. I was like "That be mine!" Anyway we go back two days later, after mulling over costs, and go to put a deposit on it, but no car. The sales manager wnet nuts looking for it. He then asked some guy who told him the stang was traded for AN EXPLORER! Which they had 100 of anyway. So they say they'll look for one with those or better specs. So I wait and 2 days later they say they have a fully loaded premium red one they are getting from a dealer.

2-3 weeks go by and nothing. Then they call and say they LOST THAT ONE! He then tells me they have a silver one coming in next day. ok this is nice however they guy didn't tell me anything about it. Being stupid, I assumed they got a fully loaded premium like the red one. What was it? A base model car with one option on it...an auto trans! When I saw that listed on their web site I said to myself "these guys can go screw."

So I look at another dealer's web site, the dealer we got my mom's escape from. What do they have comming in in a few weeks? A fully loaded black premium with an auto. Next day we put a deposit on that and that was finally my car.

Oh and for you lucky man we do..................................................................
