I have just purchased a 1997 Cobra SVT and No Manuel to help.

Why when I stop the car, get out, pump gas, get back in and then try to start the car back up I have to push the unlock button on the remote.

If I get out, lock the doors, pump the gas and then unlock the doors, with the remote, I can enter the car and it will start.

It seems that I can not enter the car and start it unless I have unlocked the car first with the key remote. My 2002 Stang does not work this way. I know the two cars have a different PATS system, but, is this the way the 97 works?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

no.. on the 97 Cobra I owned, the PATS didn't do anything besides disable the starting feature of the engine..

also the 97 Cobra comes stock with an alarm, where my 03 Cobra (and I'm guessing your 02) dosn't
