PBR brakes / Granada spindles combo...

So awhile ago i ran across this stuff in the junk yard (minus the rotors) and i figured i would put it together. Luckily there were a few people before me, but it looks pretty straight forward.

The list

Granada 5 lug spindles ( '76?) / rotors
99-04 mustang (non-cobra) dual piston pbr calipers

1966 mustang v8 (w/ powersteering)

I was wondering if you guys could recomend a straightforward guide to putting granada spindles on a 66' mustang. I know its been done quite abit, i was just wondering which guide was the best.

I will be spending my time making the spacers and the adapter piece for the upper bolt on the caliper. I'd rather end the hassle there and have an easy granada swap guide at hand.

well but I don't see reason why you install granda spindles if you don't want granada brakes

granada spindles are more heavy duty than original mustang spindles, except for the 70-73 spindles, because they have larger spindle pins and tie rods and just generally more meat as well. the PBR swap is pretty simple really, all you have to do is build one small bracket and a spacer and you have much better brakes than any stock granada or early stang ever had, with the possible exception of the 67 K-H calipers but they used the smaller spindles and they are very heavy.

my other option for the cougar is to use 70-73 drum spindles and the aluminum SSBC version of the 67 K-H calipers but that will cost about 5 times what the PBR conversion costs

Let me get this right.... you already are building the brackets for the spindle to caliper and now just want to know what it takes to get a Granada spindle on the car? I think you just need Granada outer tie rods. It bolts right on. I have it on my car.

if he has power steering he'll need a different tie rod

I actually have one of the remaining tie rods from my opentracker kit. Since I have a rack, I wasn't able to use it. It is the curved one, which ever one that is.

Correct, i was asking just what was needed (tie rod/ball joint) to set the spindles in place. The PBR brake conversion seems to be the most for the money as far as better than stock and easy to maintain / pads/rotors etc.

Good idea, less manufacturing is needed. I have PBR's with mustang spindles, and never thought I would need beefier spindles.

You just need Granada outer tie rods and the stock ball joints will work. Might as well replace them while you have it apart. I think new lower arms are about $35/ea. at the part store.
