PCV valve good or bad?

I always thought that if a PCV valve rattled when shaken it was good. Is this true or is it one for Mythbusters?

That is correct. They are supposed to rattle when shaken. Just an FYI - if your asking about your 5.0, the pcv valve has a metal cylindrical screen below it and a rubber grommet that the pcv fits in to. If you choose to replace the pcv, replace those parts as well.

Thanks, I have a new screen and grommet to install. My valve rattles. I just didn't want to buy a new one if I didn't need to.
