pedal swap done.... no reverse or brake lights or turn signals...

ok today i got the pedals in.... A MAJOR PITA to let you all know. i am glad i got it done heh

anyway my reverse, brake and turn signals dont work.... my brights and wipers work so anyone know what connector has the reverse lights and brake lights etc???

and also, my steering wheel is alot tighter and transmits more vibrations than it did before. would overtightening the nuts cause that???

I know what your going through. It if a pain to swap everything and I don't know how ppl do it w/o dropping the steering column. Luckily when i did my swap I had both cars in front of me.
Ok, for the brake lights make sure you have the brake light sensor hooked up correctly. It's a spring loaded assembly with a loose plastic washer that slips on the brake pedal shaft and its held on by some kind of clip. I'm not sure where the connector comes down through the dash. The same switch that worked for your auto will work for these new pedals.
I think the reverse lights use a connector on the T5 that just hooks up to the same connector as did the automatic. Someone tell me if I'm wrong, I did the swap a few months ago.
Good luck man. I don't know why your turn signals wouldn't work, make sure you hooked up all the wires on the steering column that run to the turn signal switch. It would be easy to forget some of those.

does that spring thing have to go so far on that clip, should i push it in as far as it will go and then hook up the hose??

also i found an unplugged 2 connector down by the pedals. i dont know what it goes to.....

also i didnt even mess with the tranny so i dont know what messed up the reverse lights.

oh well i will look at it sometime, i had to hurry up and get it driving so i could go eat turkey

you wont have reverse lights till you put the tranny in and the harness is hooked up, so dont worry bout them now.

As for the brake lights, remeber when you took out the AOD pedals, remeber that rectangular thingy witht the spring on it that was on the spot where the brake booster connected to the brake pedal? make sure you put that in correctly. also make sure you put the vaccuum line back on, and adjust that thing properly (black cylinder shaped with a yellow button on the top.)

I'm fairly certain that the two unplugged connectors near the pedal assembly go to the cruise control cutoff switch on the brake pedal, and for the clutch pedal neutral safety switch, or whatever you call that.

You won't have any reverse lights until you swap out the aod harness for the t5 harness. You've got to get a t5 harness from a 4 banger or v8 car, same harness. It's a direct swap. the old one unplugs, and the new one plugs in right at the dr side kick panel, then routes under the door sill, under the carpet, around the back of the front seat, and into the hole in the trans tunnel. Your aod one won't work.

Hmmmmm. Wierd, I never switched harnesses when I did my conversion and everything worked just fine.

I just used the existing harness and spliced it into the reverse switch on the T-5.

thats wat i did too. i never had an actual t5 harness. but once you splice the reverse lights, you have to splice the other 2 wires together , those are the neurtal switches i think. i kno i just cut the AOD connector off and the car wouldnt start till i joined the other 2 wires together.

sure you can splice, but I didn't mention that because using the correct harness is so much cleaner, and it's only a 20 minute swap.

you can only splice tho if you have the correct connector for the tranny, that way you dont have to follow anything into the interior of the car. took all of 2 minutes to splice tape/cover up and install

you dont have to splice, you can just replace the harness, btu that insludes some disassembly of the interior. if you WANT to splice, heres what you do:
1) take the harness that goes the each tranny (AOD AND T5) they are about a foot long or so.
2)cut them both in half.
3)Splice the tranny side of the T5 harness to the computer side of the AOD harness.
4) youll notice the AOD harness has 4 wires and the T5 only hase 2. Match the 2 T5 wires to the same color AOD wires and splice those 2 together.
5) with the remaining 2 wires form the AOD harness, splice them together. tape and cover up the new harness with wire loom.
6) INSTALL IT

He diddnt touch the tranny yet so the lights should be working fine. The brakes are what he skrewed up. Check the fuse for the brake lights.. When i did mine a while back the fuse blew and i had that problem. And if you wanna do it right your gonna have to go find the right harness for the tranny at a junkyard. Dont splice anything.

And the 2 harnesses down there are for the nuetral safty switch and the cruise control.

ok today my dad helped me check my lights and they worked, i guess i couldnt see them

and about the turn signals. the guage bezel was off, i had the headlight switch hooked up and dangling down, i didnt have the hazard switch hooked up, and its part of the turn signal circuit, so it couldnt complete the circuit. I hooked up the hazard light and it worked.
so the car is running good and just like it was before....

also i cant find the NSS that needs to plug into my pedals......

It should be under there by the pedals with a jumper plug in it. You need to pull the jumper plug out and plug in the NSS to it.
