Pedestal Vs. Stud

Im Going to be Ordering The AFR 165's and was wondering which is better pedestal or stud. Ive heard that stud is better but if i get studs then i need to get new Roller rockers and Push Rods right?? But If I stay with pedestal I will I be able to use my Stock Pushrods and Rockers. BTW the Motor is a 92 H.O 5.0 with a e303 cam. So what are the bennifits of using Studs over pedestal.

If you think you ever want to go with forced induction or nitrous then you defintely want to go stud mount. Hope this helps!

Stud mount is stronger and IMO has a lot more to be desired as far as adjustment, no more shimming to get the correct preload. You'll need new pushrods I believe either way with the AFR165's. Go with a set of 1.6 ratio Scorpion roller rockers, run right around $200 and are very nice and light

HOW MUCH MORE DIFFICULT IS IT TO USE STUDS. WHAT EXACLTY WILL I NEED TO MAKE IT ALL WORK. WHAT KIND OF PUSHRODS (LENGHT) AND ROCKERS.

It is easier to adjust with studs. I have AFR 165 heads and Scorpion RR. I used stock length pushrods just make sure they are harden pushrods. They put guide plates on the heads aand if the pushrods are not harden they will wear.

Cam profile, valvespring pressure and rpm have more to do with choosing studs over pedestal than whether or not you run a power adder.

If you arent adverse to spending the extra money, then you wont go wrong with stud mounted rockers. They are stronger and easier to adjust as others have said. I think its funny you want to get some of the most expensive street heads on the market, but are willing to keep the stock valvetrain. If you do get pedestals and decide you want studs down the road, the good news in you can convert pedestals heads to stud. Problem is it takes machine work.
