Im looking to buy a powermaster alternator for my 67 was wondering if anyone had belt squeal after swaping the stock v-belt pulley. I did a search and some people used a 2 groove v-belt pulley to eliminate to the squeal. Has anyone had this problem. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

I have to keep my single belt set up super tight. I actually broke my stock water pump pulley (sheared off around the 4 mounting bolts) and left me stranded last summer. I purchased a new stock pulley from mustangs unlimited and it seemed to be upgraded with a stamped cap to strengthen the pulley. The only thing that bugs me is that the alt sounds like a blower.

Stock pulley on mine and no problems although I do run it tighter then I did with the stock Alt. I have about 2 years and 20,000 miles on my current set up.
I don't have any noise from mine. Make sure you are using an automotive belt rather than a utility belt. Automotive belts start out as a tube and are then cut in slices, utility belts are wrapped, you won't see the fine sharp edges like on an automotive belt. If you are using a 3/8 section belt, see if you can find a 7/16 section belt instead, the wider belt will need to be slightly longer, but in most cases tends to ride better in the pulleys.
Place a small amount of strip caulk in deepest part of the groove in one of the pulleys, install belt and tighten. Remove belt and see how low in the pulley your belt sits, in extreme situations, it may bottom out and thus will slip slightly.
No troubles with mine either. I am using the March pulley and bracket system, so I can't vouch for a stock setup. Belt tension is not set extremely tight either, so this might be more to do with the stock brackets/pulleys than the alternator. You should also check that the pulley is aligned properly with the water pump & crankshaft pullies. If it is off, you will need to shim.
