I know you probably here this question a lot, but i would like to know what you all think.
My 2003 GT is my everyday driver so i keep that into consideration when i put after market part on.
So far i have 70mm throttle body, k&n filter, 3.73 gears, vrs o/r x-pipe, 2-chamber flows, steeda timing adjuster set at 14, and pullies. Right now on my street tires i am running 13.5 to 13.4 et.. i would like to get my car in the high 12s and i would be happy.
What do you all suggest to be the next thing i do to getting a step closer to achieving this goal?

Thanks,
Truest

First of is your car a 5speed or an Auto?

To get into the 12s you will need to drop some weight (back seats, spare, jack, swaybar) i would suggest an upper plenum to go along with your TB. I think getting some LongTube Headers and matching xpipe will help And you are going to need Drag radials or some et streets to get traction.

upper plenum, that is what i was thinking. It would help performance and gas mileage with the air flow. what about shorty headers? i have nitrous sitting in my house from my old car but i am trying not to go that way. (everyday driver).

accufab plenum u suggest?

Suspension mods and jerking ALOT of crap of your car to lighten it up not to mention a set of 410s and long tubes with matching X or H pipe , some nice tires DRs or slicks or if you dont wanna do all that get a supercharger or nitrous , power adder will work good with the gears you already have .

accufab seams to be the best plenum. shorty headers will work, but you will only gain half of what you would with long tubes. Shorties and a plenum will cut you a tenth off, but you need sticky tires to go much faster.

plenum, maybe some cams, have you though about FRPP 4.10 gears?, nittos, chip, weight reduction(remove back seat) and more practice. that should be good for 12s. 13.4 is awesome for your mods

personally I would get the supercharger and go by a new hyundai to drive to work LOL . I have an 91 explorer that i have about 2500 bucks invested in new paint and all to drive to work , its dependable and only has 108 K miles on it . I drive about 90 miles round trip to work . Mustang comes out on weekends .

I've got basically the same mods:

4.10's
pulleys
Timing adjuster at 14*
o/r X
magnapack mufflers in stock catback

My best with 2.0 60 ft on stock tires is 13.4@104.7. I put on some 26x10.5x15 ET Streets and ran 13.1@103 with a 1.81 60 ft. I've heard of 1.7 60 fts with Nitto drag radials.

Accufab intake plenum and drag radials should put you VERY close to 12.9. What 60 ft are you cutting?

2.0 was my best. my mph was 106.
if i went with 17 x 10 rims so i could put a 285 or 315 drag on the back how much would that slow me down? i like the look of the bigger back tire.
what did you launch at when you ran your 13.4 stngstr? i kinda just listen to the motor and timed it right.

First thing is first. Unless if you're going to get an aftermarket plenum, doing internal motor work, or going boosted, ditch the 70mm throttle body. Sell it on E-bay or something. It's not going to help you with your times and if anything, its only going to cost you. You dont have to take my word for it either. White99GT has the dyno results from where he added the 70mm throttle body and it didnt help him one bit.

I take it you have a five speed. In that case, you can hit 12's with the 3.73 gearing. However, it would be easier with 4.10's or 4.30's. If you dont believe me, look at all the top racers on these Mustang Boards that are n/a. They almost all use 4.30's. I look to be joining them.

Aside from the gears, you need traction. Good performing street tires are not going to cut it. You need at least a set of sticky Drag radials. Personally, I recommend investing in a spare set of 15x8in. drag race wheels and throw some ET street or drag slicks on them and use them at the track only. To further increase traction, a set of good performing upper & lower control arms will go a long way.

As for weight, you dont have to dump the rear seat to hit 12's. However, I do recommend dumping the spare tire, jack, and tire iron to shed some weight. If you're worried about a flat, either leave all that stuff in there or just pick up a can of "fix-a-flat" at your local auto parts store. Yes, the stuff actually works and you dont need to jack your car up and put on a spare tire either. I keep a can with me at all times.

As for exhuast, I see you've already got some flows and vrs o/r x-pipe. If I'm not mistaken, Mustang92(Bill Putnam) used to use one of those vrs x-pipes and had good results with it. So your fine there. A set of LT headers would be a good investment, however, that will be really expensive. Its all in what you want to do and how much you're willing to spend.

If you really want to hit 12's, the fastest way of doing so is with boost. However, I'm not going to BS you either. Its also the fastest way to ***k your motor up and in a big way. These cars come stock with hyper-reutectic pistons. Although they are lightweight and rev up good, they are not very durable and have been known to shatter under boosted conditions. Should you invest in boost, I strongly recommend setting aside money to upgrade your pistons and connecting rods to forged steel for increased strength. I'm sure all the guys on this board who've been using boost for an extended period of time will agree with me on this point.

Aside from all of this, the best thing to do is practice, practice, practice. This is the key to lower times as the more you pratcie, the better and faster you become. I strongly recommend you take a look at the fastest n/a racers on this board and take advice from them. Mustang92, Automatic Weapon, KenB, TruBlu01, and Kurgan are a prime example of the guys to ask. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Does timing adjuster give you a noticeable horse power gain?
I thought about getting it but i was not sure if its worth it.

DR's, upper+lower control arms, plenum, rid your spare tire, and practice.

Lots of great input. FYI, my headers and x-pipe alone were worth 4 tenths . . . ahh, the quest for the 12 second n/a pass.

could just go 17x9 with 285/40 or 275/40 dr's as well.. 285's look funny on 17x10.5's
