I want to add some power to my cobra. I'm going to get the SLP Loud Mouth Cat Back Exaust System for $450, its suppose to make a sweet sound also. I don't want to get a ton of mods. Besides exhaust, what are some other basic mods I can do?

CAI is a good bang for the buck mod and would be my next mod if I was you.

As for your exhaust....
Have you heard what the new SLP Loud Mouth exhaust sounds like on a new Cobra? I have and I didn't like it. Sound is subjective though.... You might want to check out http://ubb.mustangexhaust.com/ before you make your final decision. They have over 200 exhaust sound clips for you to listen to. Almost all the aftermarket cat-backs for the '03/'04 Cobra provide excellent gains, it's the sound you have to live with that ends up making you love or hate the exhaust in the end.

I installed the K&N FIPK2 kit. Its like $170 but you gain 30 HP to the back tires, not about, but 30 - solid results published in MM and fast fords... and the kit includes a dyno slip as well. Very nice install just having your girlfriend or wife hold some screws for you as you mount the mass air to it helps a ton

Where else can you get 30 RWHP for under $200?

Get the x-pipe from SLP also with the high flow cats. you will be very happy. They used my car to prototype all there stuff they are coming out with now. The results were awesome!

Just because something costs more doesn't mean it will make more power! What exactly are you asking here?

I didn't mean it like that. I ment to say "are there better kits that yield better performance that are most likely more $"

WOW! Glad to see someone else who posts in the "wee hours"!

I do believe the K&N FIPK is the current leader as far as documented RWHP gains on a stock Cobra. The new JLT CAI may provide an extra HP or two, but the installation, fit, finish, and future filter servicing headaches required aren't worth that extra 1-2 HP gain.

My 2 cents.

I agree with Uncle Meat. I can service my filter far quicker than even stock... I hated that air box.. hated it on my 99, 2002, and my cobra... now I love it

I am thinking about fabricating some ducting from the inside hole of the front airdam and feed it up through the fender and shoot it inside the engine bay towards the air filter for some cooler air... thoughts?

I went from 376RWHP (bone stock)to 452RWHP with CAI, Reichard pulley and SCT tune. This was all done yesterday afternoon at Excessive Motorsports in Manassas, VA. I haven't even done any exhaust work yet. The CAI that Excessive uses is real plain, just a big cone shaped air filter that attaches to an adapter at the MAF, it was $100 installed.

How much money do you want to spend? That will help us out with telling you what might be a good setup for you. Or better yet to say the better bang for the buck.

I don't think Cobra18 will be answering you any time too soon. He hasn't been back to Stangnet since May of last year. 03mustangcobra dug this post out of the archives for some reason and decided to post in it...

Listen to Uncle Meat, I hated the exhaust mods I did to my 04' GT convertible. It was hard to talk at highway speeds. The good part was that it caused me to trade the GT for an '03 Cobra -- best thing I ever did.
