Performance Spark Plugs

Does anyone run performance plugs? If so, what brand? Are they an easy install?

i personally run Autolite 764 coppers, they are just the copper versions of the motorcrafts that were stock(Motorcraft plugs are made by Autolite). NGK makes good plugs, the Denso Iridiums are good plugs as well. stay away from the Bosch plugs, they have a poor track record with the 4.6 motors.

Same here, after doing much research on this - I found that the stock or Autolite plugs are all we need, and that performance gains with a more expensive plug haven't been proven.

Bingo. Don't go spending $8 a plug for something you do not need. The Denso plugs have been proven to keep good spark under high boost. The Bosch quad-platinums are a very hot plug and are really intended for cars burning a little oil... Autolite plugs = teh win. Even in LT1 and LS1's on the Dyno, Autolite plugs show a higher horsepower gain than any other plug. NGK's are good plugs, but Autolites are easier to find, cheaper to buy and perform just as well if not better.

I would go with Motorcraft platinums or Autolite 764's.
Whatever you get don't get the bosch plugs because
they are horrible for the 4.6L engine.

I am not sure about the exact technical reason for "Bosch platinums + 4.6 = teh suck" but so many knowledgable people have said it that it must be true. I know I wold never use them. Plus they are too stinking expensive...

Yes 32 is the stock heat range and the C on the end means copper.

www.bullittarchive.com has great info on reading, changing, and selecting plugs. Whoever made that site is a Mustang GOD.

Bosch plugs are junk.
Ive seen NEW plugs blow out of the metal thread casings,misfire new,electrodes come off (new plugs).

Ive seen these plugs in use in many cars ,they are JUNK!!!.


For a N/a Car like the others said.Autolite 764's( i ran these plugs -greeat plug).Or the motorcraft copper versions.
Plat plugs are just longer life plugs and have no performance value at all.
