To make a long story short i went to autozone today and got and edelbrok performer intake manifold it cost me 139.99...well i just took it home and started looking at it and realized that the distributer hole was on the wrong end, so i matched the parts number up and realized that it was for a sb chevy anyway im gonna go back down and replace it tomarrow, and try to do the conversion after i get it

Main question is, what all will i need for this conversion,(gaskets, silicone, ext) any help is appreciated.

You will just need some intake gaskets, bolts, and RTV silicone. This is your last chance don't waste your time with a performer manifold, at the very least go with the performer RPM. DO NOT GET THE PERFORMER IF YOU WANT ANY KIND OF PERFORMANCE GAIN.

Thats what i got, the performer rpm, just didnt put the rpm on it lol any way so the old bolts wont work on the new one or am i just better off getting new ones? also im just gonna use my holly 2bbl (for now, untill i can afford a 4bbl edel)

theres no point in using a 2 BBL on that manifold,you might as well wait till you have the money to do it right with a 4BBL.

well see im one of those people that if i dont start something i wont finish it, i dont have the funds to do something all at once, if i put the intake aside i wont care, ill just keep putting it off, "oh it can wait a little bit", but if i just go and put it on ill be pushing myself to hurry up and get the better carb...(im weird like that)

youll end up spending money on one of those 2BBL to 4BBL adapters,if it fits your manifold,and then toss away 20-25 bucks.

thats 20 bucks i would have spent on junk food becides that i can sell my old stuff to people who need it, or put it aside incase i need to go back to the 2bbl. when i buy parts i wont throw it away, it might have a future use or bring a few bucks later

Buy the manifold and don;t install it until you have the 4V carb. Post a WTB thread in the classifieds, I'll bet someone has a 4V carb lying around that you can get cheap (I did last month but already sold it). I'd recommend a 600cfm single feed vac secondary for a motor with stock internals.

I've got one of those adapters and my original 2bl carb which I haven't used in years. It worked great for the short time I needed it. I got a carter 625 4bl after a while and haven't looked back.

You need to shop around. You can get a performer intake on ebay for about 60 bucks and they are usually in really good shape. you can get a 600cfm carb on ebay for about $100 in really nice condition too. Just be sure you know what you are getting. DONT pay $140 for a performer intake! Hell, I have 3 sitting in my garage right now! Spend the extra dough and get the RPM (or maybe you did, I couldnt understand one of your responses). As others have said.....get the 4bbl! Sell your 2bbl, save that $25 that you were going to spend on an adapter and buy a 4bbl.

You can just about get a used performer and a used 600 eddy carb for the cost you paid for that intake!

I dont know who made the mistake at the parts store, but if they rung up a sbc performer intake for $140...be prepared to spend more for a ford.

Allcar, he is getting the RPM.

You will need more money for the Ford. They run about $25 higher in the Jegs catalog. (Assuming you have a 302)

Don't do it half-ass with a two barrel. Wait and do it right or don't do it at all. Fast food money is stupid rationalization for impatience. Do it right the first time, it's cheaper that way.

a thought just came to mind...my cuz's b-f might be selling his holly, he wasnts to get a edelbrock insted, i might be able to get that off of him. (and the intake is a performer RPM...) it wasnt the parts stores fault, it was mine, i even opended it up and looked at it, i was just too tired to realise that it was made for a chevy, but oh well, im gonna go back and see if its around the same price for the ford, if its too much more ill just say screw it and go the used route.
