Does any know if anyone makes a stainless steel replacement air filter for the paper filter that fits in the stock GT housing for a 200 - 2004 GT like the UPR type?

Stainless Steel? What part are you talking about being SS? Most of the filter is cotton with a mesh cover...the end that connects to the MAF need to be flexible, so it is rubber. Not much left to be SS.

Maybe he means the mesh.

I don't think any of the filter manufacturers use SS for the mesh. Too cost prohibitive.

If you're going to buy a K & N filter, save your money and buy the summit brand one that looks just like it. I asked the sales guy on the phone who made their filter because it sure looked like the K & N. He said K & N OEM's it for Summit. When I got the box there was a K & N sticker inside. Same filter without the name stamped on the filter and without the higher price.

Spectre also makes a good reusable.

Looking for something like this that will replace the stock paper element:

MUSTANG-UPR Products.com

"UPR Big Mouth air filters are made from 304 Stainless Steel.

100% Unique, the entire filtration element is made from a fine T-304 mesh (200 micron mesh).

The superior design of a UPR filter will never be out performed by any other filter or ever wear out and become clogged and need replacing. "
