all I can say is WOW, even with my 3.73 gears and nitto 275 out back first gear is worthless. I'm putting 4.30 in tomorrow that going to be fun. I'm getting either Mickey DR or BFG DR for street driving. Thye stall rpm is perfect, the car really takes off hard, even though it is spinning bad but after it hooks it pulls hard. The 9.5" converter verse the 12-13" stock really helped rotating mass I think and allows the car to rev faster.

For any auto guy, this and gears should be the first two mods on their list!

isn't that a little high for the street. would 2400-2600 be better for daily driver? This is on my shortlist of next mods after my ported heads/cams come in and i order the blower.

Not at all. A friend of mine daily drove (summer only) a 302 V8 Ranger with a 4000 rpm stall for 3 years before making it a 100% drag race truck. The truck never had any problems at all....well, it did have traction problems sometimes It was just a FRPP crate engine and it ran 12's all day long.

I see ur best et is 13.8 with a 2400 stall....Dam_ dude thats kinda low even 4 a 2400. I think u should be in the 13.5's even b4 u put in the 3500. With the 3500 u should definitely be close to a 13.0 1/4 mile time, with good tires that is.

Just curious, whats the stock stall on 99-04 gt's? I was told it was roughly 1500-1700...

hey it is low, I was having lock up issues in the tune. It would lock/unlock as I was going down the track. It would sound like I had a 7spd tranny lol. Plus the Nittos DR Sucked!!! I could not leave at idle, if I did the 60ft would be 2.1. So I foot braked up to 2400rpm and left there, 60ft was 1.90-1.94. So that hurt me not allowing the converter to flash.

So yes it should of been running 13.4-13.6 if everthing was right at the time I went and got those numbers.

Yeah Cav!!! you following me? lol

i thought the stock converter was 2400 but i could be wrong. How does the higher stall affected daily driving? Is it a little more sluggish when your not getting on it?

I actually have this exact same convertor for sale. Its not too high, trust me, I drive with a 5000rpm stall now! I could get you a deal on a new set of gears of your choice too. Congrats on adding some new fun mods. I think convertor and gears is one of the best things you can do.

PI 3600 stall Torque Convertor.....been in my garage so make a decent offer.

I've been thinking about forking out some dough for a torque convertor how much (ballpark) can I expect to spend in parts and labor?

My cnvtr was 700.00 from P.I, B&M trans cooler was 50.00 and to install them both was 275.00. I only have the single disc cnvrtr as well, their triple disc is roughly 900.00 or so and is best for turbos, nx, supercharging or u plan on locking up gears btwn shifts....at least thats what I was told. I havent had any problems yet and neither have my 2 other friends , both with single dics/2800 stalls.

hardcore or just stupid lol My gear install was delayed so the 3.73 have to stay in until my installer can free up.

blown00gtauto, I'm running NA so I figured 4.10 would not be enough and 4.30 would be right for track and street. Also how are you launching with your converter?

I recently switched from a 4200 stall to 3800 stall. I'm going back to the 4200 because my 60's went from low 1.4's to 1.5's.

No, it's not for sale. And, if it was, it wouldn't be for cheap. I'm going to keep it as a spare.
