Where is the cheapest place to buy PI heads? The only place that I know is a site called www.powerheads.com anybody know any other sites that sell PI heads?
I just replaced, my 02 heads with new OEM 04 heads(I had that $%#^&@* ticking sound). Of course I didnt need the intake, just the heads(cams, rockers, lifters). Got em from Parkway Ford outside Atlanta for $800. Brand new came in the nice pretty Ford Racing boxes. 800-900 is reasonable, I think one time I even saw $700 for the heads from a no name site.
Things to consider......you will the full PI head swap kit so add maybe another $200 to price I paid, you will the intake, dipsitck tube, valve covers, gaskets, head bolts, etc etc. I believe Parkway sales a complete PI swap kit for like $1200 I think. Call and see. Also labor cost if you go to a dealer is going to be 13-15 hours..roughly $900-1000 dollars.
I two sites I know of so far that sell the PI head swap kits are www.powerheads.com and http://performance.parkwayfordga.com
anybody know any other sites? I'm hoping the install is no more than $1000 I've heard some people say they got theres installed for like $500-700
The labor manual that the dealerships use calls for 13 hours min. So 13 x $75 is $975. If you want it done at the dealership I seriously dobt you will get out for less that $900. If a grand is too much you can have a speed shop do it. Not sure how much you will save.
Try Fordracing.com. I only paid $700 US from them. I just ordered them from the local Ford SVT dealer. He gave me a pretty good deal i think. Fordracing.com also has prices on the intake you will need and the head changing kit. You will also need other items like gaskets, bolts, studs, and an alternator bracket. If you want a list of all the parts you will need for the swap call Liberty Ford in Baltimore, and ask for Randy. Randy gave me a full list of the headswap parts with prices and part numbers. You can then order everything you neeed through your local ford dealer or you can go after market if you can cross reference the part numbers. It is worth it. I picked up almost a second in the quarter mile by doing the swap, I thought it would be more but it was still pretty good. 13 hours is standard for the swap though. Have fun.
I dont plan on going through the dealership for this. I'm not sure if I trust AMP though because of all the bad stuff I have read about them. I've dealt with them before and everything has been fine but I'm just a little bit hesistant. Anybody else know any other places in AZ I could get it installed?
