I have the Parkway Ford PI headswap ordered and I was wondering about the timing. With the added compression is it good to leave it at the stock 10*. If I go 12-14* will it help or hurt performance? Any suggestions from someone with experience would be appreciated.

I got my headswap kit from Parkway Ford aswell. Great people to deal with. Just do a check when you get your kit to make sure all the parts are there and that there is no damage in shipping. Mine was all there and no damage, but you don't want to find out if there is a problem after you start the swap.
As far as the timing advance, it depends on the car, it seams there is a variance even with cars the same year, as to how much timing they'll take without detonation. Where I live, the best fuel I can get is 91, and mine pinged on warm days, with stock timing. I ordered the SCT mail order custom tune with the 4 postion chip [$325] and got them to give 4 different tunes.
1) Custom tune with stock timing
2) Custom tune with advanced timing
3) Custom tune with timing set -2 degrees [incase I ever get suck having to use reg. fuel]
4) stock tune

Thanks, Canada. Kit is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Good news, but my buddy can't help me out for about two weeks. Anyway, which one of those tunes to run the most and how do you like your car after the headswap? Is it a huge difference? I hope so.

I have my 4 position switch chip set to the Custom tune with stock timing position. And Yup, there is a huge difference, pulls really good right to 6000rpm. I think you'll like like it.
