I finished up my PI Intake swap and took it for a test drive. It drove fine and everything was great. Got home and my little brother wanted to go for a ride so I took him for a quick spin and POW the Check Engine light came on. He said he thought he heard a funny noise when I started it before we left, but I didn't hear anything. Anyhow, has anyone who has done this swap experience this? If so, what was the problem? I'm stressed now becuase I have work tomorrow and not sure if I should drive it. It drives fine and everthing but that damn MIL has me wondering WTF is up. This is makin me wanna hurt somebody!!

I'm not having any problems and it's been 1+ mos already. I would recommend the usual in this case. Doublecheck all your connections, Vaccum lines, bolts snugged down etc., then reset the puter by disconnecting the battery until such time that it clears the thrown code.

I think I figured it out. I did the throttle cable mod so my throttle opens all the way now and my computer wasn't use to so much air (I think) So at WOT the first time since the mod my computer saw an unusual amount of air and threw the code. I reset the puter and drove it hard and no MIL. So I think that was it.

Still having issues. It seems that only at WOT it throws a MIL. If I reset the computer and drive it easy, I have no issues. But at WOT I get a damn code. Any ideas????

You're going to have to get the code scanned or you will just be running around like a chicken with you head cut off. If you made a throttle cable mod, then maybe it's going to be some sort of code from your tp sensor?

Blev:

What did the code scan tell you?

Have you tried to measure the voltage on the TPS? You need to push in probes where the wires go into the connector and then you can measure the voltage at closed throttle and WOT positions.

Don't laugh, but I had forgot to plug my MAF back in. I have yet to drive my car after plugging it back in, but can pretty much bet that was my issue. For you, I would think maybe a bad seal. Did you use alot of RTV to seal the gasket? I had the adapter plates so I know it's not a sealing issue for me. Just make sure all of your sensors are plugged back in. I know it sounds dumb, but I was so sure I had plugged everything in and I didn't.

Not drunk, but towards the end I was buzzed. Hence me forgetting about the MAF sensor. I could say it was human error, but my ex seems to think I'm not human becuase I don't have feelings for her anymore and I'm dating two of her friends.View attachment 525544

I wish I was....but no

Hey do you guys remember if there was a gasket of anykind in between the upper and lower intake..?? I know on the NPI there was a removable gasket....but on the PI intake it seemed like it was built in to the intake so we did not use it....I don't think that's my problem...but if it is that will make things hella easy...just doesn't sound like it's coming from there...but wishfull thinking I guess....

You mean between the Plenum and intake? If so, than you don't need another gasket. The new PI intake has a built in gasket like you said. I was confused too when I was tapping the second sensor hole and saw the gasket molded in.

Ahhhh......you never really said you had a leak, just "having issues". Well if it's a leak, I'm inclined to say it's a bad seal on the gasket. Alot of people are having issues with the gasket's sealing up all the way. Even with RTV some folks are still having issues. That's why I broke down and bought the adapter plates. Only problem was all the damn bolts had to be replaced.
