PI Intake

Do i have to change the PI intake and the PI heads at the same time??
If you are putting PI heads on, yes. I can't imagine putting time and money into heads and not doing the intake.

If you're talking about just doing the intake now and doing heads later, That's what I'm doing. I have had the intake on for a while now and finally got my heads. So that was just one less thing I needed to buy for the swap.

yes, i mean why wouldn't you?

there are 96-98GT adapter plates for a PI intake for non PI heads. but it's a waste of money. might as well get it all done at the same time

well some people want the extra power now instead of saving up for the PI heads as well. Not to mention when u get teh PI heads you are still running he same compression so you will have to buy some low compression pistons to run boost after you do the heads. You could just keep saying "oh well why dont you just save up for this before you do this" it could go on for along time.

I sorta agree with you because I bought the plates. I lost torque due to the drop in compression from the 1 inch thickness of the plate. At least that's my theory. HOWEVER....I did notice it pulled alot harder up top and I'm pretty sure some of that can be attributed to the smoother transition from the PI intake to the NON-PI heads. If I had to do it over I think I would do it exactly the same. Only reason is because I know I had a good seal right from the get go. I know alot of people have had great success without the plates, but I felt better knowing they were there. But, the heads are in my garage, my vacation is less then 2 weeks away and the heads will be in. :nice:

So i can just put the PI intake and then later on get the PI heads?? Would there be alot better performance with just the PI intake???
Yes. You'll notice it pulls alot harder in the higher RPM's. Typical gains, depending on other mods, have gone from 15 - 20 hp. Some may say more, but I have only seen dyno sheets reflecting 15 - 20.

You are better off looking for the newer PI intake with the aluminum cross over, and tapping it for the 2nd sensor, or you can reuse your cross over if yours no longer has the solid plastic intake.

if you are specifiacally asking about a 2002 GT wanting to put on PI heads, walk to your car, left the hood and stare at the PI heads and intake that are already on.

Smart ass..

I just got the GT (my "Track Car" is a 450 HP Firebird) and read about CNC ported "PI" heads.. I thought these were the same heads.
